Man, I've fell down a weird rabbit hole on Tik Tok and Youtube watching people eat canned fish.

It's to the point I'm questioning whether this is a normal thing.

I've never seen anybody eat canned fish. In my life. I've seen it on the shelves but I've never considered it.

Apparently it must be really popular with someone if there are so many varieties. I'm questioning whether I should actually try this.

Seems like the salt level in that would not be tolerable.

Edit: Not talking regular Tuna.

Yeah I’ve eaten canned tuna mixed with mayonnaise. It’s called a tuna fish sandwich. I’ve also had canned sardines and salmon

One of my cats lost most of her sense of smell. The only food she'd eat was pureed canned mackerel (with the brine poured off and the fish rinsed several times.
The other cats never tried to move in on her food so it must have been strong smelling to them, too.

I eat all of it. Canned tuna, canned sardines every kind of way there is. Canned oysters as well. There’s just times when that’s what I want. Some of that canned fish is really good.

Canned salmon and/or mackerel patties are what I grew up with.

Still eat them to this day.

I am talking sardines, herring, muscles, clams and oysters.

I did not consider people talking garden variety tuna.

I don't know if I could get past the texture though. Some of this stuff looks like mush.

The octopus and squid varieties look absolutely wild.

Anchovies make great pizza toppings. Sardines are some of the lowest mercury fish and fish oil is healthy. Tuna fish sandwiches are pretty tasty, with a pickle. If you’re making crab cakes, you can cut fresh crab meat with the canned and it allows you to make alot more. Canned oyster kinda suck for a seafood gumbo, but you can do it.

I eat canned tuna, I used to eat sardines. When I was a kid I used to use sardines for catfish bait. I'd bring a bunch and eat some while I was fishing. Ate too many one time and got sick. I haven't had sardines since.
