When did it become acceptable to bring your pet to grocery stores and restaurants?

Wife and I went slumming it at a chain restaurant because her work gave her a gift card a long time ago. We are wrapping up our meal when we notice this lady feeding her Pomeranian at the table.

I’ve noticed people also bringing their dogs to the grocery store as well.

When did we as a society start allowing this happen? I know people lie about them being “service” animals, but it’s past time we put a stop to this shite.

This wasn’t fast food I love fast food.

I just don’t eat out all that often, we cook 95% of the time.

Would imagine dog friendly restaurants have been around a very long time. Long as I can remember

I’m not sure. But I know about a month ago my wife and I stopped in at a Longhorn restaurant in Gadsden for dinner. Not sure where it was, but someone in there had a little yapping dog. No way this could be a service dog. It sounded like it was something like a a little yapping terrier of some sort. I was shocked the manager let the thing in there.

This sentence screams “I’m poor”

What does a long time ago justify for you?

When I was working in France people brought dogs to restaurants all the time. They were very well behaved and no problem. Not sure why you have an objection if the dog was well behaved.

I don’t believe in a lot of regulation, but I’d be fine if emotional support animals were regulated out of existence

This.

I’ve disinvited friends and family from my home who wanted to bring their dogs with them.

But like most things today the ONLY reason people take their dogs places is to get attention. Unless your dog is pulling you sled to the grocery store it’s not needed to go shopping or eat at a restaurant

The amount of hair and dander is ridiculous.

On time I watched this bartender pet her friends dog and the hair and dead skin went flying everywhere into peoples drinks. I covered mine with the little napkin because I knew it was coming. But you could see it all in the beams of light.

Breweries and brew pubs made it acceptable to bring your dog with you.

I take my dog for errands, but would never bring him in a store, bar, or restaurant.

If it’s a patio bar style deal where you’re outside and it’s generally accepted that a dog will be there, that’s one thing. A chain steak joint, not so much.
