I watched a documentary on the 2019 team and was struck by JB getting emotional watching the replay. He said,”there was so much work that went into that.”

It made me remember the drops and inconsistency that existed in 2018 and the summer of 10,000 catches. That summer is still making those WRs and JB money.

I hope with all the incoming talent that Nuss and the WRs put in the work this summer to be great in 2024.

Don’t expect too many sacrifices in the Portal /NIL era. Also, don’t expect players to get that emotional like that anymore. These are mercenaries for hire.

A bit ironic in a thread about a guy from Ohio who transferred to LSU and was very businesslike in his recruitment process.

The main difference was the new offensive philosophy. Kelly is too arrogant to make such a change.

Eh. Leaving your team after 3 years because otherwise you’ll never have the opportunity to play isn’t the same as a starter jumping ship (some multiple times) for more money.

Burrow would be working in an office somewhere if he hadn’t made that move.

The difference in those 2 teams were 2018: 2 receiver routes, max protect
2019: 6 receiver routes.

Joe Brady brought us better opportunity

Yeah! Can't wait for the NIL Championship ring.
Beats the hell out of recruiting and coaching up good players.

LSU, NIL Champion of 2024. Will there be a victory recording or championship ceremony?

Whatever they’re doing now…

Not sure why this hasn’t been CEMENTED into the process every summer.

I agree. 2018 was plagued with so many drops which was eliminated in 2019. Everyone began catching with strong hands instead of letting the ball get to their body.

With the proper offense, the defense won't blitz because they know the QB will check into a different play and will burn the defense with a big play.

In 2019, teams hardly ever blitz because JB would change the play and get rid of the ball quickly to one of several weapons for a big play (last drive against Texas)

Offensive line was horrendous in 2018 too. I think they were ranked like 112th or something in the nation that year.

People love to just say Joe Brady fixed the offense, but there was a massive amount of player development among the receivers, who couldn’t catch a cold the year prior, and the offensive line.

Brady did help modernize the offense, but it wasn’t like Ensminger was running a Stone Age offense. They ran a lot of 3-wide and 4-wide stuff with RPOs, it just wasn’t as extensive or crisp as 2019.
