Janis Joplin, a major one for me. Saved me from elevator music & brought me back to rock n roll.

Gotdam these musicians have been overplayed. It was great but I’m sick of hearing these songs

Yes. His daughter also wrote, "Please Be With Me" that uncovers a few things that music journalists/writers wouldn't have been able to.

Queen.
And while The Beatles may be of the "Boomer era," all four of them were born in the Silent Generation (1928-1945).

Don’t disagree with any so far.
Add: The (Young) Rascals, Jimi Hendrix (did you know he once played BR?), The Doors, Steppenwulf, Donovan, the Grassroots (although not exactly a band), and Cream. And, of course, Robert Zimmerman.

And the band Yes has been around since 1968. Known for synth.
ETA: and The Who. (Don’t make me post Won’t Get Fooled Again after election season).
