That's good news for us. We don't need yall stealing all the best candidates.

Sumrall was smart as hell to stay put at Tulane this year

I don't think there's any way Venables gets away with 8-4 or worse next year at OU

They just gave him a new contract this summer and his buyout would be substantial.

I think Venables is safe for 2025.

Kentucky is in a similar position with Stoops.

too hard to win there

I bet he'd take OU or LSU or Auburn over UK

(yes, I know he played there) ETA: he's from Huntsville Grissom High School

the only Kentucky connection is college, besides some asst coaching there. He's an Alabama native, so I bet when he's talking to his wife, he's telling her he's not pinning himself down like UK owns him or anything.

The best candidates definitely won’t be “stolen” from Arkansas

only AU and Arky are in a decent enough financial position to afford to buyout their current HCs

LSU ($52 million)
UK ($37 million)
OU ($35 million)

are not

Those teams can easily afford those buyouts, but I think teams are going to be a lot more reluctant to pay those buyouts in the NIL era, especially with the trend rising of coaches paying that money back into NIL. Buying your way out of a bad situation now means paying that money to the roster instead of paying a buyout to get a bigger fish

“Cheaper to keep her” as they say.

Can Brian Kelly’s agent please negotiate my salary?

Good lord he took LSU to the cleaners.

Arkansas will probably be in the market for a new AD before a coach.

I figure Yuracheck leaves in the summer. Sam will be the lamest of lame ducks ever in the sport at that point.

Mike Mayock and Gruden will be the new coach and GM combo at Arkansas in 12 months and $$ will flow like wine.

Interesting dynamic that's arisen out of the NIL era.

But I'm sure Ed O will redirect some of that ginormous buyout our AD gave him because Ed loves LSU.
