Man, the guy does it all so well.
Such great guitar playing, vocals and writing.
He's so well known for his slow beautiful ballads ( Nobody Answers, Go Rest High On That Mountain, The Tips Of My Fingers..).
The guy did some great rocking country as well. Fantastic guitar with a fun groove.
One of my favorites:

I have those same pickups in my favorite Telecaster.
They're awesome.
The tone in middle position is incredible.
Here a couple of months ago, when weather first started cooling off, I had that Telly over at a friend's house and we were picking on his front porch.
I was just playing through a battery powered Orange Crush Mini. Plugged straight in, no pedals or anything else. I thought we were turned down pretty quiet.
We played Allman Brothers Soulshine and I did an extended lead part on it.
When I finally got it finished, one of his neighbors walked up behind me and scared the crap out of me, to tell me how great that guitar sounded.
I looked around, there were a handful of other people standing out in the street. We even got a little applause.

One of the smoothest voices to ever come through Nashville. And he can absolutely shred.

And he's also married to Amy Grant......
