The beginning of the movie always bothered me. Buzz is the one acting an arse and Kevin takes all the heat for it.
But I guess the whole movie is based off of poor parenting.

The McAllister family sucks. They are terrible people. I just rewatched HA1 the other day and every year it becomes more abundantly clear what shitty people they are and all of their kids are brats. I will say though that 8 year old me had a crush on the blonde sister in the first home alone and was disappointed that they had a different actress play her role in the second one haha. One of my favorite holiday traditions is going through the Over-analyzation of Home Alone thread on the movie board.

Yeah Uncle Frank was awful, and I swear the family knew this and was protecting him.
In both movies he acted like an arse and they just kind of laughed it off. Even as a kid that always gave me a bad feeling.
I think he had some dirt on Peter; he must have known where the bodies were buried or something.

The older sister or cousin is the one who miscounted the neighbor kid instead of Kevin in the first one. I heard she does porn now.

In HA2 - The fact he got off the plane and didn’t simply ask an attendant or anyone where his parents were, makes the movie fall apart
In HA1 - even in the 90s, police would have gone to the house multiple times and tried to find him, not just a couple knocks and left

He did think he saw his dad though. There was another guy wearing the same trench coat as Peter and Kevin pointed and told the attendant “There’s my dad over there.”
