Yes and it’s been great.
Either shoot the Hornady SST or Barnes. Both are devastating and turn the lungs to mush with almost zero recoil

Not a 6.5gr but have shot several with a 6.8spc which is about 200fps slower.
120gr hornday sst will wreck the boiler house from 25-225yds you may not get and exit wound but if placed rifgt deer will be dead in 50-125yds .
Buddy shoots 90gr gold dots and said he gets exits in his 6.8spc.
A copper or bonded bullet in 6.5gr should exit and do what you want.

Man i almost started a thread on this earlier today. I'm interested in it as well. Curious how it does on deer. I have a lower i need to put something on.

ETA: looks like it stays over 1000 ft/lbs of energy out to 400 yards. Nice

My son shoots a Ruger American in 6.5 Grendel. Hasn’t shot a lot of deer with it but shot one last Saturday and I was shocked how good the blood trail was. Deer went about 40 yds.

I built an AR for my kids to shoot and it kills deer and hogs so well it’s about all I hunt with how. I killed a pile of quadrupeds in the 50 to 300 lbs range. Big hogs I normally shoot in the head or neck. Deer I take broadside shots only up to 200 yards and I do normally get exits. No deer has ever run more than 30 yards and no hog has ever taken another step.

I use hand loads of 120gr Sierra pro hunter spitzers. 120gr nosler ballistic tips work great too. I don’t use Barnes or bonded lead bullets because at Grendel velocities I think the regular cup and core bullets do more damage even though they might not exit 100% of the time.

I’ll be honest though I never get a blood trail even when the bullets exit. When the heart and lungs turn to jelly, there’s nothing left to pump the blood out of their bodies. Same thing with my 30-06. When they run 10-30 yards they’re easy to find.

There’s basically no recoil. When shooting hogs you can maintain your sight picture while firing a bunch of rounds.

A lot of people acknowledge 243 Win is a good deer cartridge. Did you know that at 100 yards the Grendel has the same energy as the 243 if the Grendel is using heavy bullets in the 120gr range due to better aerodynamics? At 150-200 yards the heavy Grendel bullets outperform 243 any day of the week.

ETA: if you plan on shooting deer other than broadside from about any quartering angle, use a bigger caliber. If I’m hunting a big buck and want to shoot him from any angle at 300 yards I’m going .308, but .270, 7mm rem mag, 6.5prc, or bigger works just as good.

Haven’t shot a deer with it, but it’s my go-to for both my night vision/thermal platforms for hogs and yotes , just like the light recoil and ability to get back on target after each shot. No problem with end performance and use Hornady sst 123gr…

Have used an AR in 6.5 Grendel with Hornady SST and killed 2 does; one dropped immediately and one ran 10 yards. Both shots were within 50 yards.

I have had no problem with blood trails. The jellyfied lungs still shoot blood out of the entrance and exit holes lol

I have 2 rifles in 6.5 gr
It's been my favorite deer caliber since I bought them. I shoot suppressed. My kids handle it like a 22. I shoot 120 gr nosler bt and it's devastating on deer. No recoil. I love it. Buy one.

Have killed multiple deer with my Grendel AR. Never an exit wound, always dead quick as hell.

I have one and it shoots very well. My son shot a doe around 140 yds with it and it didn’t take a step.

I load my own ammo and use Nosler 120gr ballistic tips. It’s the most accurate bullets I found. I normally am not a not a fan of ballistic tip, but the 18” barrel in getting ~2400 fps and that’s slow enough to not grenade. The deer he shot had a good exit.

I bought one for my kids and they’ve killed several deer including 200+ lb bucks. I’ve killed several and several hogs.

One of my favorite guns and plenty potent out to 200+

I choose the Grendel for probably 75% of my hunts. Hornady SST does it's job and kills em quick, but don't expect an exit. The projectile will be stuck on th hide on the opposite side of the deer. Will be switching to the 120gr Noslers when I run out of the SST.

I have it in a Sulzer AR, as well as a Ruger American Ranch.

Been hunting with the 6.5 Grendel ever since Bill Alexander introduced it back in 2003. It has gained in popularity in the last few years. Extremely accurate. Low recoil. And hits hard with Hornady SST 123 gr bullets.
Head shot a cow elk last year and flipped a 350 pound animal like
Mike Tyson punched her.
Been very happy with mine.
