Or is that another game that is basically gonna be dead before early access ends? It had so much hype on release, and it seems like not much has changed since. The steam review are steadily dropping.
This whole genre seems like a Neverending cycle of hype and then death by 1,000 cuts because devs promise more than they can deliver.
I think the only reason valheim is successful is because they didn't go for ultra realistic graphics and all the headaches that come with it, opting for more of a Minecraft approach.

Apart from it being a lot of fun and the devs actually giving it attention.

I enjoyed it when I played it. I thought maybe some larger areas should have the mist cleared as you progressed. It is early access. Why should it still have huge numbers. It isn't an open ended game. I played for about 40 hours and packed it up until it is finally released. Why get burned out on a game before it hits 1.0? They certainly have a good system in place, they just need to finish it off.

My friends and I were playing for a good while. Kind of hit a point where we didn't feel like the content was terribly "new" anymore and got burned out.

Steam has basically ensured you will never play a complete game again that tries anything new.

Disappointed to find this thread.
Downloaded Enshrouded this past weekend. Already close to 30 hours of playtime. Playing solo private currently.
One of the better games I’ve played in a while.
Sandbox RPG with some quest guidance. Sounds good to me. I’ve been getting good performance on my system. A great game to get lost in and can imagine is even better with friends on a dedicated server.
Skill tree is pretty solid and the progression, while a tad slow, seems to scale well as you advance through the game. For me, about level 10 things really start to click. This is definitely a game where you see something random, want to explore it, and then find yourself in something you didn’t expect.
I can only imagine how much this game has changed since thread was started.

The game was fine when the thread started. As I stated I only stopped because I didn't want to burn out on the game before it was actually finished.
It still isn't finished. I won't go back until it actually releases the 1.0. I haven't paid much attention to the various patches so I don't know if the overall consensus is they have moved in the right direction with patches or the wrong direction.
Any survival game has a big hurdle to get across. How does it compare to Grounded. Heck, I just finished Abiotic Factor so any future games will have Grounded and Abiotic Factor to live up to.

Enshrouded is scheduled to leave Early Access and launch in full (version 1.0) during Autumn 2026. According to Keen Games, the final major update for the early access period is planned for Spring 2026, with the full, expanded release—including console versions—set for later in the year.
I do like that you can play it in offline mode on Steam
