It only hurts is. Even if it costs money, you make that up in spades by making the playoffs.

There is nothing to gain.

The SEC has parity like the NFL.

There will be very few 1 or 2 loss teams in the SEC every year and they are being penalized for having the toughest schedules in the country.

I'd rather watch LSU play Clemson than Middle Tennessee State.

I don't know why anyone would rather watch Middle Tennessee State.

Saban couldn’t hide his bias today but unfortunately he had a point about strength of schedule. There is little incentive to schedule good out of conference opponents in this playoff system if you are in a power 5.

Who was left out because they lost an OOC game? Saban is bitching because Alabama didn’t make it and there is nothing more to it than that.

Well if you listened to him he also acknowledged the fact that every team has a chance to win every game so it’s also on that team to not lose

So would I, but I'd also rather watch us in the playoffs than in the Takis Bowl if it meant watching us getting a boring W against a cream puff vs. losing to a top 25 team in game 1. In the SEC, there isn't an incentive for playing the tough OOC teams anymore.

With that said, we could schedule a game before Clemson to be more prepared, but we scheduled them and should play them. It would be a puss move to back out. Here's a thought, how about BK take a different coaching approach in first games and win one. Then it would be a win for the team and the fans.

He also said Bama controlled its own destiny and blew it.

I'm very excited for an actual home and home with the real team!

I did and I stand by the statement. No one was left out due to losing an OOC game, so his rant about their “schedule here at Alabama” is just as meaningless as this thread.

Texas plays Ohio State
OU plays Michigan
Alabama plays FSU & Wisconsin
Tennessee plays Syracuse
Arkansas & A&M play Notre Dame

But Georgia plays Marshall, Austin Peay, Charlotte, & GA Tech

i have been beating that drum

you needed those games to help you in the old BCS version.

they helped greatly with quality wins and SOS built into the computer polls

we are back purely to just human elements again. SEC is tough enough.

why make it harder? you only need to get in the top 12 not top 2 or top 4.

those tough OOC games are not needed anymore. get as many wins as possible and make the final 12.

Not me, I don't want to just see LSU make the playoffs, I want to watch LSU dominate the playoffs. I want to watch LSU dominate quality OCC Teams. I want to watch LSU dominate SEC teams.

There is if you like good football during the season.

In the first games? That's too late. He needs to take a different approach from when the bowl game is over to when the first kick is.

I remember when LSU opened the season with an Oregon team that was ranked #3 (finished #4), had just lost a close championship game to Cam Newton, and would go on to win the PAC12, and had a high-octane offense. All off-season the LSU defense prepared for that game. I believe that it was that very preparation that turned that defense into one of, if not the best LSU defense ever. That's how Kelly needs to approach next season's opener at Clemson.

LSU fans see the 2011 season as some sort of utter failure. But I still remember what a great season that was, filled with very entertaining games against a lot of good teams. And it all started with preparing for Oregon.

YES BCS not 12 team playoff. we had to play a tough WV team that year also. those days are gone and not needed now

it is dumb as frick to intentionally handicap yourself in this day and age especially with NIL and transfer portal issues now.
