devastated by Hurricane Helene? This WH's handling of this matter alone would have prevented me from voting for the laughing hyena

The way I see it, the commies in charge now fly illegals from their home countries into the interior of the USA and give them tens of thousands of dollars.

Trump can do whatever the frick he wants.

Id like to bring our Armed Forces home from abroad and stage along our southern border til this mess is cleaned up.

The regularly military can’t enforce immigration laws (domestic law) on US soil.

It’d have to be National Guard under the current legal framework.

FEMA is nothing more than a bunch of contractors making billions and laundering that back to our elected officials via campaign donations. There are hundreds of national guard units with the equipment and know how to respond to these disasters. It would be much cheaper to make those units permanently employed and deployed as needed in the same vein as these grifter contractors. Honestly there are enough battalions already permanent in the active duty ranks to complete this mission. But our elected officials don’t want that. They want grift.

Nope.

This was a whole thing about Katrina. Separation of powers

Formal permission must be given by that states governor.

Not domestically.

Domestically requires congressional involvement outside of a few loopholes.

It was Eisenhower, and done under the Insurrection Act.

I’m not anticipating an act of Congress for the upcoming deportations. Are you?

the primary job of the military is to protect our borders.

Then tell that to Congress.

It would be an awful misuse of our military and its resources anyway. We have actual agencies and a national guard that are better suited for playing cop at the border.

yes.

Specifically to the Op's question about military (active duty in addition to the guard) for emergency response in the aftermath of a hurricane)

My dad will beat up your dad argument. Come with something better than “no, he cannot.

Ok. It’s illegal.

Plus it’s just dumb. Using active duty forces to play cop at the border is an asinine waste of resources. We have people for that, we just need to use them properly. Manpower isn’t the issue.
