IMO LSU really dropped the ball when they lazily transitioned O to head coach after firing Les. They should have gotten someone young with some fire and proven ability to win a natty. We could have still won a championship and maybe even another since then. I truly do believe Joe Brady carried that LSU 2019 team and it had little to do with O. If you don't see that I'm not sure how because the writing is all over the wall. We could've gotten a head coach after firing Miles that could still be in Baton Rouge and the program wouldn't be in the state that it's in.

They tired. He went to Texas. He was fired after 4 seasons. He then went to FAU. He was fired last week before even completing 2 seasons.

I'm convinced LSU fans aren't able to remember anything beyond 1 month ago.

You must have missed the part where I said proven ability to win a natty. I'm not talking about an OC I'm talking about a HC.

We tried to get Herman he turned
Us down. Who you would have gotten in 2016. We have in our minds we are tol good for an up and coming coordinator. Heck if we would have hired Lanning in 2021 this board would have been pissed.

That's not a head coach with a proven ability to win a natty. Good try though. Convinced certain LSU fan don't have basic reading comprehension skills.

We almost universally would’ve preferred Tom Herman to Coach O at the time he was hired. One of those coaches was fired a few years after winning 10 games and the Sugar Bowl. The other was fired a few years after winning the SEC and a national title.

Coaching hires are a crapshoot and, at best, an educated guess. We were very fortunate to wind up with an all-time season in 2019.

How about keeping Les Miles after beating Texas AM?

The Facebook Moms of Louisiana gave LSU hell online and that’s what made LSU keep him.

Huge mistake. Even after hearing that Arkansas wanted him so we upped his contract. Stuuuuupid.

They was our opportunity to offload him and we……kept him.

That’s like a wet dream coaching hire. I’m sure every AD in the country is looking for that guy.

Brady had an overrated part but he was still a part. Ensminger is the one who called plays and designed the offense with input from Brady. I'm not saying Brady was bad, but Steve was the leader of the offense.

And O, is the one that got Burrow and others on campus and keep together a good defensive staff. You can't discount what he did.

When they fired Les, the list of young guys with natties (only way you can say "proven ability to win") was zero

Unless you consider Urban, Dabo or Jimbo "young".

The only coaches who somewhat met that criteria at the end of 2016 were 51 year old Jimbo Fisher, 52 yr old Urban Meyer, Gene Chizik and Dabo Sweeny who had just won his first title.

Oh what could have been.

No. When the hired Brian Kelly is where LSU went wrong. The AD assumed since Kelly won a lot of games at ND it would translate to LSU and with the fertile recruiting grounds eventually a National Championship and a dominant program. We are finding out he was dead wrong.
