He’s worth 320B. FYI he’s the founder of Oracle if you don’t know

How far away are we from him or a Phil Knight from just giving 1B to NIL to build the best team with the highest players at each position?

How is this good for the game? I don’t care if you do a salary cap, there are always workarounds. You’re never putting the toothpaste back in the tube.

This will eventually be corrected through some sort of rules. Same way as the NFL with a salary cap. The problem is the NCAA royally screwed up by not giving an inch on allowing any NIL type deals. The courts stepped in and the pendulum swung from one extreme to the other. It will eventually settle somewhere in the middle, but it will take a few years for that to happen.

This is all new and exciting for a lot of people. It will die down a bit though and become most of what it was before. There’s always been money involved for top recruits.

I actually hope that a billionaire comes in and drops 1B on a school or team.

That would be such a jarring event that it would galvanize the CFB community to change it.

Right now it’s just death by a thousand cuts

I wish he would buy an entire roster for Michigan. Show the whole world how it's done.

Why own a pro team and try to build through a draft and free agency, when you can buy a whole team in college?

Im curious to know what kind of rules you think can be put in place since none of this is officially related to sports or the school any player attends.

Yes, if by “same” you mean not even remotely comparable. There is no salary to place a cap on.

They, along with anyone with half a brain, knew exactly what it would turn into.

Your going to have to put an earnings caps… if you make over a certain amount amount of money based on your status as an athlete, you are no longer considered an amateur and you are no longer eligible. Boosters should not be allowed to contact a player who is being recruited by a university until after a player is enrolled.

Allow HS kids to go to the NFL draft let them go where they want to be anyway. Let’s not act like Underwood is going for an education. It will eliminate the cash chasers.

It’s a mess and the NCAA created it. I see a league forming off the NCAA and the salaries will be regulated by the league.

How do you cap it while keeping it college football? I don't see a way you can cap without a CBA.

The NCAA already had eligibility rules related to NIL until courts and lawmakers got involved.

It would have been great had the people with grievances against the NCAA just stopped voluntarily participating in it and found an alternative created by the free market.

But that wasn’t good enough, they want the NCAA platform but not to abide by its rules.

Portnoy said he was on a call with Underwood's family.

I guess I knew this was going on, but was still kind of shocking to hear it said out in the open. Essentially, coaches no longer need to physically recruit, and can skirt recruiting rules by having these NIL teams do it for them.

We may end up seeing recruiting coordinators no longer being on school payrolls.
