Retailers in trouble or WMT and AMZN leaving them in the dust?

Target just had a atrocious earnings and Walgreens and DG are becoming dinosaurs.

You mean to tell me that when the economy is weak, stores that price to make convenience stores blush don't do as well as discounters?

I think it's all about online presence & sales.
Amazon is obviously the gold standard, but Walmart does very well.
Target's web-shop is OK. The rest are non existent.

Target doubled down on the transgender/gay children nonsense despite a large portion of their customer base threatening to walk. Instead, they chose to cater to progs who probably aren't their largest base. Just piss poor leadership and judgment.
Target vs Walmart should be a good lesson in not allowing men into women's bathrooms and trying to stay as politically neutral as possible.
Also, Walmart is just cheaper overall at a time when people are struggling with inflation.

The consumer economy is weak for things target makes their money on like Chip and Joanna Gaines candles.

William Sonoma had the complete opposite report today. Not a sector issue, just a Target issue.

Needed some athletic shorts so wife insisted she buy me some at Dicks (for my bday). Least expensive ones I could find were $30. Told her I'll just buy some online for $10 instead but she insisted.
Went on Amazon and filtered for $10 or less and bought an additional equally nice pair for under $10.
As long you're not sweating over specific brands Amazon blows retailers out of the water for clothing and many other widely available items.

Do not be that person

We just had an election where the economy was a deciding factor, so I present the evidence of how Americans feel. You can post whatever statistics and charts to say the economy is not weak, but 68% think it is poor and you need to come to grips with that reality. Maybe you do not feel it, but there are millions that do

Target had a double FAFO happening. After being hit with a boycott over Pride sections, which the CEO admitted was very hurtful to bottom line, they got smacked again for the lack of "Merry Christmas".
They have bent the knee on both topics, however much like Bud Light, the damage is done and will be long term. Walmart and Amazon run circles around them in options, convenience and delivery. The only thing they could offer was a better in-person shopping experience and that is what the boycotts impacted. Long time Target shoppers learned there were better options, just like everyone learned there is better beer than Bud Light.

Walgreens
No idea on that one, besides around here in Texas CVS is far better than Walgreens.

What a ridiculous post.
You provided zero evidence and want to go with feelings. Lol. You sound really intelligent.

the economy isnt binary. its possible some people think its good, and some don't. likely has to do with income levels. if your stocks are up you might say its good, but when you cant afford groceries you might say its bad

Online sales offer huge advantages to the consumer. Fast, convenient and they nearly always have the stock sought after.

Agree that it is not binary. But it is measurable in ways that don't involve feelings. GDP, employment numbers, wages, inflation, .....
We are on the financial board, not the politics one.

Walmart has crushed it on delivery. We step foot in a Walmart 5 times a year now. I can only assume many others are the same.
Everyone likes the Walmart price, they hate the experience. Win win for both sides.

I was surprised with some recent purchases. 24 hour delivery, no charge. Their delivery is beating Amazon with no ‘prime’ membership required

All I know is Dollar General can eat a bag of dicks and go bankrupt. Such a shitty ran company.

It’s all relative. You can be worse off today than you were 4 years ago while the economy is still decent/solid.

68% of Americans think the economy is not good, not sure why you disagree? Show your work why the majority is wrong.

That’s cool. Can we convince them to stop going on vacations and eating at the good restaurants so we can get better rates and tables. LOL.
When are those loan rates going to come down as well?
