I play around with some of the AI photo generation apps, Grok, Chat GPT, etc. Mainly just for fun.

One flaw is that they won't take a photo that I upload, and make changes or edits from that photo - I assume because of potential copyright laws.

However, I see people post photos from AI online all the time of existing photos that have been edited or changed using AI (for example the pic of Trump, Elon etc on the plane eating McDonalds)

What app is being used on these, or what am I doing wrong?

People who are making things like that are running their own AIs where they don't have to follow any rules. Things like stable diffusion. It takes a bit to figure out how to get one up and running and then training it where it will make decent stuff.

i also think some of these are the 'pay' versions that give you more features.

istr, the one X/elon released had zero filters on it so you can get it to do anything you want as opposed to the 'woke' AI that you have to rephrase your request about 27x before it doesn't 'violate community rules'.

I looked it up, Grok I think is what it is called. It does have filters, just not as many as things like OpenAI. You can't produce some forms of nudity for example. It does look like you can run it locally, so it might be a possibility. There are other ones you can definitely run locally that can do that; they aren't that easy to use though to get it to produce something decent.

Midjourney AI will allow you to upload images and use them as the basis for AI generated images.

It is one of the best AI image generators on the market today. You can browse recently created images here.

I just gave it this prompt "Imagine a football tailgate party outside of LSU's Death Valley stadium"
And got these as a response:

On Grok nor Open AI you can't upload a photo and then have them manipulate it.

For example, if you wanted to put your photo on a famous painting. It won't do it. Not that I can figure out anyway.

It will make anything from scratch, but it won't start with an existing photo and work from there.

Did you give it a photo of Tiger Stadium?

That's the issue I am having. I want it to start with an image I provide and work from there, but the few ones I use won't do it. I will try midjourney.

No, but I could have. Let me pull one off the internet and see what it comes up with.

So I went to google and searched for "LSU tiger stadium tailgating", from the various images I picked this one to upload to midjourney

I uploaded it to Midjourney and gave it the exact same prompt as before and got these 4 images as a starting point.

This is what it looks like within the Midjourney interface

On the right side you can see the uploaded image and the prompt.

From this point, using their interface, you can pick a particular image you like and start modifying it from there. There are lots of options for modifying it.

You are having the same issue as me. It is only taking the photo and using it as a suggestion. I want it to manipulate and change the exact photo I am uploading,

For example: take an original photo, and insert a different person into the photo. Or upload a photo of a person, and change something about that person's appearance, etc.

It seems that in your example, it's just using your photo as a "prompt" and making similar - but different - images.

all these AI engines are being developed by some horny incels

seems like 'hot women' is the very VERY first thing these AIs are able to churn out to perfection.

Thanks. Seems weird that would be a completly different app and function. Why wouldn't it be done in Midjourney or one of the others?

Not sure, maybe its the difference in Image Generation vs Image Manipulation? Midjourney is a generator.

Photoshop Generative AI will do this. But it's a subscription based service.

What I don't understand is why AI can't do Lettering correctly. You can tell it to put a truck with "Techies" on it and somehow it will screw it up every single time. It's like it can't just pull from regular typing and has to create everything like it's an image.

Anyone have a solution to this? It would make AI much more useful to have it be able to specifically use letters and numbers.
