What's everybody seeing?
I've scouted/hunted St. Bernard both of the past weekends. Seems that certain areas of Delacroix are holding quite a bit of teal and a few big ducks, but the heat has the gators still out and active. Biloxi marsh/Hopedale has very few birds. I'll be back in the area this weekend. Hopefully this front brings us a push of birds.

Buddy of mine hunted the first Monday and this past Saturday. Killed his 6 both days.

There's a blind behind my house. Most shots on a Monday I have ever heard. I noticed an influx of other birds like robins and sparrows, so maybe something is going on.

Hunted wright last week and killed 11. Mostly teal and a few blackjack.
There were a good bit of teal in the crawfish ponds close to Jeanerette.
Lease near Chauvin has been pretty empty.

I must’ve missed where I asked for your duck hole. Our survey isn’t as good as it used to be so this is the next best thing to figuring out how the numbers look across with the state. If you’ve got a problem with it, carry on.

The hunting has been pretty good in Delacroix, but the amount of poaching is off the charts.

Don't get your panties up your crack over it bud. Sounds like you're in the wrong place if you're gonna let a post like that get to ya.

NE LA has been pretty impressive 3 days in. Opening day was obscene.

To be fair to you, I lost my 13 year old bird dog two days ago. So I am probably a little irritable.
Regardless, you don’t have to explain to me the importance of keeping certain info close to the chest. I promise you I’ve been doing it long enough. Trying to start a discussion of statewide bird numbers is hardly comparable to the point you were trying to make.

I’ve always struggled with that in St. Bernard. Haven’t seen any evidence that it’s a problem by us yet this year, but the hoodlums typically follow the birds and we don’t have too many of those yet

Really sorry to hear that and it's a shitty coincidence I actually lost my 11 year old lab last week. Hang in there, I'm right there with you.
Anyways, Delacroix. Yes, gators. Yes, teal and a few big ducks. It was a great opener and after that it's been mid for me.

Terrible on two cenla lakes that used to be good. Salvinia has really put on hurting on the places I hunt.

Poaching is epidemic in Delacroix when the birds are thick. Or like you said the poachers follow the ducks.
Get boat #'s and pics, names if possible and contact Sheriff and your lease contact. If they are willing to go to court and prosecute them it's worth the exercise.

We’re finally starting see good duck migration here in Minnesota. Lots and lots of mallards and plenty of big honkers around. Seems like everything is 3-4 weeks behind right now, one of the farmers who’s ground I hunt in Alberta sent me a pic of one of our fields yesterday still chocked with mallards and darks.

Got a limit last week below Lake Charles:
2 - dos gris, 1-ringneck, 1-blue winged teal, 1-green winged teal, 1-wood duck, and 6-gray ducks.

Killing a few in outer delacroix and Hopedale public stuff, seems overall that things are just 2-3+ weeks behind as far as temps and of course migration. More blue wings than usual, less grays so far. Saw some nice wads of new birds arriving Friday afternoon by the Shell Beach camp high and rolling.
I think this front coupled with more next week will help get things in motion.

Lower plaquemines: the dog Gris still haven’t showed up in the drainage ditch inside the levees. Trout are staging in the marsh as well waiting for some colder temps to move deeper.

Pretty mid in Bayou Black/Terrebonne.
Hunted once each weekend. Had 7 first day, and 9 this past Sunday. Coulda, woulda, shoulda had a full 2 man both hunts but alas shite happens. 90% ringnecks, a few teal (bw & gw), a few woodies. Haven't seen the first big duck or whistler.
Yet somehow I am doing A LOT better than a lot of other throught the parish. A buddy hunts out between Lost Lake and Mechant and they had a pretty good day on grays this weekend. I don't remember exact numbers.
FIL lease in Dulac is essentially empty and complete waste of money
