The $100-million man will be the first coach in 24 years not to win a national championship at LSU.

The man isn't even 3 full years in yet and we're already talking about his legacy.
Was the fanbase this bad when Saban lost 5 games in year 3?

Mauck was completing like 48% of his passes, was it really that much of a loss?

Re-watch LSU @ UF 2002. Saban was building the program, but left Mauck in too long when we beat the shite out of them in the swamp.
We were 5-1 after that game.
We won the NC the next year with 48% QB.
I don't disparage Marcus Randall, but GTFO 2002 was on a good trajectory until Mauck's broken foot.

What was Nick Saban's record in 2002? That year was supposed to be THE year. But I think we had 5 losses (6 if it wasn't for the blue grass miracle). Wins it in 2003.
I remember season opener 2004 Oregon St. Oregon St was winning most of the game, it was storming, I was soaked and left in the forth quarter because I was starting to have a migraine or what I thought was the beginning of one, I remember hearing a fan say "we might as well fire him now, he done won a championship so he doesn't even care anymore".
That's 60% of the board. A bunch of emotional people who cant apply logic before commenting. Let the shite play out. Next year will be Kelly's judgement year.

He significantly improved in that area.

Will be hailed a legend after the 2026 natty

If BK would publicly acknowledge the deficiencies that we all see in the offense scheme and playcalling, then I would feel a little better about it. But he acts all defensive at the podium and treats us like southern swamp trash. After three games, he should feel as though he should throw the OC under the bus rather than Nuss or blame player execution. Somebody needs to ask him what plays did he specifically call from his little printed play sheet.

If it's actually the fault of the players and not Sloan, then why would he throw Sloan under the bus?
So many just assume Sloan is the problem without ever considering the chance they may be wrong.

If we have a top 75 defense last year, then BK wins a natty, so I’m not buying your prediction.

I guess this is why he's lazy (allegedly). He thinks he can get one doing nothing

OweO is commenting here, there is some comet or asteroid about to hit.
What was the final? It's been 20 years and I'm not going to look it up, but I am guessing 22-21? I'll look up after this post.
ETA: Nailed it.

His losing record against the Top 25 alltime tells me he wont win enough to get very far. He wins at a 40% clip against the Top 25 and against the Top 5, he is approaching James Franklin territory.

Saban had already won a conference title.

yup and as we all knew mauck was a runner first. 2002 is when he had to learn how to pass with growing pains. he did great in 2003. that damn lis franc injury messed him up in 2002.

If you can take that and work forward, that's growth. I will tell you from a person that witnessed it, the 2000 bama game, the peach bowl, 2001 sec champ game, 2002 @ uf, were all moments for the program. Singling out 2002 8-5 record is shortsighted. That's all.

That isn't that uncommon of a ranked win percentage for anyone who has coached a long amount of time.
