quote:

BREAKING: President Trump just announced the forming of a new council called the National Energy Council to propel the nation into energy dominance. North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum will lead it.

"It will consist of all Departments and Agencies involved in the permitting, production, generation, distribution, regulation, and transportation of ALL forms of American Energy. This Council will oversee the path to U.S. ENERGY DOMINANCE by cutting red tape, enhancing private sector investments across all sectors of the Economy, and by focusing on INNOVATION over longstanding, but totally unnecessary, regulation."

Each day just gets better and MAGA, and he hasn't even been sworn in yet.

Nothing says "government efficiency" quite like creating new government agencies...

Did someone forget to tell President Trump that he already has a Department of Energy reporting to him?

too stupid to know the difference between a "council" and an "agency"

The DOE will likely be part of it.

Form over substance, just like the Democrats I abhor.

We don't need any new boards or councils, especially from a campaign that talked about efficiency in gov. Man the frick up and make some decisions. Stop creating new administrative bullshite.

Get rid of all the subsidized solar crap, the most energy inefficient way to produce power.

Instead of quibbling over semantics tell me what the new "council" is going to do that couldn't be done by a newly managed Department of Energy.

It appears to be a LOT of redundancy.

The think tank team for Trump is unbelievable. It goes to show you what people are really capable of when they put their thinking caps on and focus on the right things.

It's a council. Filled with I imagine people he wants to listen to not get lectured by. I just don't understand your blasting it like it's some bloated new department? I doubt it will cost you or me a dime but it's results may help us both save a lot of money.

Seems pretty obvious. It's going to combine all energy-specific agencies into one. It's clear from the announcement:

quote:

It will consist of all Departments and Agencies involved in the permitting, production, generation, distribution, regulation, and transportation of ALL forms of American Energy.

Yes, that might look like an increase in the size of government in the short-term, but hopefully that will result in a decrease once efficiencies and redundancies are identified.

I think of it as more of a strike force.

No one’s nervous. Just calling it what it is.

I’d imagine this council will mostly be comprised of existing Department leads, that have an effect on energy use. This likely only amounts to an extra weekly meeting for them, and should keep them on the same page and add efficiency.
