Why is it that the rest of the world can have cool trains but we cannot?

I hope not.
Passenger rail is government subsidized worldwide.

Why didn't mayor pete and Biden and Kamala already do this? Why is this on Trump's back now?

because we have Silverado's, F-150's, and Tundras. we don't need a limp wristed rail.

It only makes sense in certain areas of the country if it makes any sense at all
The idea that we'll have a huge network of high speed rail similar to our interstate system is a pipe dream

Hopefully not. Sounds like a waste of money and time.

Pretty sure I remember billions of federal dollars going out west for one already

Because we're not total idiots
But please make the argument why we would want trains high-speed rail and then say where you're going to put them and how that would make sense on a cost-benefit analysis

Look at the size of the United States vs the size of the countries you’re referring to. There’s your answer, that shite makes no sense here

Most countries are tiny compared to the US. They also aren't sending billions to other countries like we are. We probably subsidized a lot of those rail lines.
Where are you going to run the routes? They aren't putting high speed rail in Alabama, Mississippi, and a lot of other states so why should we care about it?

Because it’s not as possible here and most people who don’t live in a city drive at 16 and have their own car.

If high speed rail was a moneymaker, private enterprise would have built it.
Posted on 11/13/24 at 10:30 pm to Zoomie3390
He can approve the permits, the private sector can pay for it. Want to bet that never happens?

Where do you live OP? Not just the city, but the exact location in accordance with the downtown?
Have you been to China, Japan, or even Europe to say France? They don’t have suburbs really, they have large condensed city centers. You take a train somewhere like Baton Rouge (point b) to New Orleans (point c). Wonderful, sounds great. Now, where did you start from originally (point a) and where are you going to finish your trip (point d) How did you get to the train station? How early? Then when you arrive at the end of the train stop where are you going? How long does that take?
Now, take your total time and let’s discuss how long a car ride takes from point A to point D? Get back with me
That’s the issue with trains
