Why does Pennsylvania wait to count mail-in ballots?

With as close as everything is this election, I sure would like to go to bed having a damn good idea of who wins this thing.
Unfortunately, a lot of that will hinge on who wins PA. I was reading today that it's against state law for PA election officials to open/process/count mail ballots until election day. This is unlike most (if not all) other states. Why in the hell would they have this law in place? What does it possibly accomplish outside of delaying results?
The longer this shite drags on, the more time people have to sit around and cook up conspiracy theories. PA should have this shite counted before today so they can release their full vote totals tonight. With this rule in place, it'll likely take days (as it did in 2020).
Just stupid.

I think we (GOP) actually pushed for this after 2020 fiasco.

I guess it went to a vote recently and the GOP majority in the state congress upheld the law. Which makes even LESS sense to me given they're the ones so suspicious of shenanigans.

they know how many are D how many are other, how many are R.
no one can add mail in ballots like 2020 w/o Elias going to court.
but yes PA is buttass backwards retarded.

I dont think PA decides this election.

Alot of places do. Here in Mississippi, absentees and affidavits are counted after the boxes

If they counted and reported the numbers, the headlines everywhere would be “HARRIS UP BY 300,000 GOING INTO ELECTION DAY IN PA.” If you’re in tune with things, you’re not going to think much of that. Your average voter who doesn’t pay attention though? They’ll see that as a mountain to climb and could choose to not bother.

Dude, I've been thinking the same. Which state can I/we key in on as a signal of how this is going to go and is quick to report results?
Sounds like NC and GA are the fastest of all the swing states, though I'm not sure either of those are really great bellwether states to provide much of a read.
PA will take days. Wisconsin likely reports on Wednesday. Michigan might be faster after some rule changes, but who knows. Arizona? Going to the same ole shitshow it always is. Nevada is kind of a bellwether and will probably report tonight.
I'm thinking MI or NV will give us a good read earliest.

Hard to hit a goal if you don’t know what that goal is

Why does Pennsylvania wait to count mail-in ballots?
Duh.

It's only 1.8M votes, so it really shouldn't that thaaaat long to count those. They will have north of 5mil vote today. Seems reasonable that they can have the tally by 10-11pm (polls close at 8est)

NH, Georgia, NV, AZ will. Trump will win with 271 votes. The rust belt is a lost cause this election. The west, our libertarian brother in the beautiful Live Free or Die state, and the SEC will get that Orange bastard in.

They have to know how many ballots they need to produce to win the lection for Kackles.

I think most states dont actually open and tally ballots until election day. That is normal.
