Moving chase young and Lattimore would be a good move imo

We’re not in a position for a “Fire sale” anyway

Trading Lattimore to Washington would be a win-win. They need a CB1 and have a shite ton of cap space to take on most of his contract.

Pretty much the only guys we can move without cap penalties other than guys on rookie deals (which would be dumb)

This absolutely has to happen. Just take whatever the highest bids are.

Just move whoever you can and then sit the other important guys with “injuries”. Tank the season and rest people

We kind of can’t have a true fire sale. We have several untradable contracts. We can’t even cut some of these guys as the dead money cap number is higher than them just being on the team

No one wants Chase Young.

Young is good depth, and would produce more on a stud DL. A contender could give him a flyer. Saints won't get much for him though.

At his cap hit, there are a lot of teams that would take a flyer on him for a late pick. The team would only need to pick up about a $6M cap hit for a guy that may not be getting many stats but is putting a lot of pressure in the backfield, while often being the only legit pass rush threat on the field.

I am not sure how they move Latt without screwing up the 2025 cap even further. He still has ~$20.6M from his signing bonus that needs to count against the cap, and $11M from that bonus paid to him in Aug/Sept this year that has to hit the cap at some point.

Any trade of a competent vet serves 3 purposes:

1) any draft capital we get back
2) potential salary cap relief (TBD depending on which contract)
3) makes the 2024 Saints worse on the field and improves the draft pick. We are in position to really challenge for a top 8 or so pick and a real difference maker. Can't screw that up.

That’s like a 7th rounder and in a perfect world a 6th.

We would also need to factor in the compensatory pick we would we receive if we simply let Young walk.

And yet he played worse last year and still pulled a third from the 9ers as a rental.

We should at least get a 4th. The team can let him walk and still get a comp pick for him.

And a KC vs Washington bidding war could greatly increase the return compensation!
