Guys I meet with Surgeon next week to set date. Hope I get one done before new year. My question is did you guys sleep in your bed after surgery or recliner? Thanks

I havn't had knee surgery but I don't have a recliner so I'd say bed.
Hope this helps.

Mrs. Cotten had some insane knee surgeries due to genetic issues on both knees a few years back when we were first married and in our mid 20s; it was 5 surgeries in 13 months all done by Dr. Bankston (technically, both the old and younger Bankston as they both were major parts of all 5 operations). She couldn't walk and was in a wheelchair for around 21 months total. All good now and just ran a 10k 2 weeks ago.
After the first, we bought a big arse insanely plush sectional and she slept on that for weeks after all of them; mainly because she couldn't physically get into our bed. We just sold that couch a year ago and both miss it. It was honestly about as, if not more comfortable, than our actual bed.

Depends. What are they doing? Replacement, meniscus, ligament?'
I've had meniscus repairs on both knees and I slept in a recliner for a couple days

Just asking. I have a recliner and I was thinking it might be easier to get up and down

If you are talking about knee replacements, I slept in the bed. For sinus surgeries the recliner was better.

Recliner with a leg wedge pillow.

wherever you sleep, keep the knee fully straight, it will be more uncomfortable but you do not want it be flexed

What operation are you having ? I had my left knee scoped last year. It was uncomfortable for a day or so when sleeping but it still felt better than before the surgery.
I am seriously considering having it replaced in the spring.

If you're not losing your insurance coverage, I'd wait until January 1 or later.

What type of knee surgery?
I had a double knee replacement in June of ‘23… I slept in my bed the first night, the next morning I had trouble getting down the stairs so I slept in my recliner for the next four nights.
After the fourth night, I finally was able to get up the stairs and sleep in my bed. It still sucked, it’s almost impossible to get comfortable. Took about a month before it got much easier to sleep.

Just had a meniscus repair done on Monday. They suggested a recliner but I went with bed and kept it elevated. Still have swelling but so far so good. Ready for the nerve block to wear off.

All I can add to this is that my buddy had both of his done at the same time. He told me later that if he had them done one at a time he never would have went back for the second one.
He is a stubborn old bastard. He was out walking in the yard two days later screaming with every step. I said....wtf are you doing and he replied that if he didn't start walking now he may never walk again lol
