So I am a Nebraska fan who will always cheer for LSU. We have played the coaching carousel for years. I know a lot of you will say LSU is not Nebraska, but go back and looked at when Osborne retired. We were arguably the #1 program in the country. I understand football has changed and that we haven't been relevant since. We also wanted coaches fire for not producing, lack of talent, etc. But also unrealistic expectations.

Again not only do I not think BK is the right fit, I have never liked him. His teams are always undisciplined. His teams have always had tons of penalties and shoot themselves in the foot. Also let's not forget about he can never win the big game. He is a Big 10 coach at best, but he also has made some very good hires who know LSUs culture. He came into a lack of talent, it's not like he walked into the Bama job. The cupboards weren't full. He beat Bama year one, went to SEC championship also. Either way you fold it he poached/coached a Heisman QB year two. His D sucked and fired that entire staff. Wasn't afraid to make changes. This year hasn't been great, the defense has showed signs of improvement. He has a top 4 recruiting class next year, I feel he is trying to make the right moves. I think what he has done in 3 years is extremely difficult and also impressive. BK has always left a program better then he found it, there's something to be said about that. Also keep in mind a lot of LSU did want Jimbo Fisher, Billy Napier, and Lincoln Riley.......

I believe LSU is a Top 3 job in all of college football, but how many active coaches have a National Championship as a head coach right now? Kirbi, Dabo, Mack Brown ( could be forgetting someone). How long did it take them to get to that level? I don't think Kelly will ever win one. But who do you want and how long will you give them? I do think he has the program in the right direction.

Again just my two cents, be careful what you wish for.

That’s the standard though. The last 3 head coaches won NCs, but don’t expect that from the 10 year, $100 million dollar man?

Absolutely expect it but understand today's college football isn't remotely the same as it was 10 years ago and also take into account that Kelly is choosing to build the team the correct way in HS recruiting instead of going after 1 year players. He has a process that will take time.

It doesn’t matter what happens for two more years.

He will be the LSU coach.

I was surprised by the hire for thirty seconds and then was pumped about the Culture change that needed to happen.

The honeymoon is over for me. Did not mean the marriage is over though. And also, zero people care about my opinion on it.

But he HAS to grow between now and August 2025. The thing that bothers me, the most is how we cannot get a run game going with this supposed great offensive line.

He has to get the right players in missing positions. Championship level coaches will, so he needs to.

He has have the team ready for game 1. . Championship level coaches will, so he needs to.

He has to be able to keep the team from shooting itself in the foot. Championship level coaches will, so he needs to.

This all needs to happen if LSU wants a national championship in the next 4 years. I want him to be that guy.

We need someone who can recruit on the defensive side of the ball the way LSU did in years past - especially on the Dline. We used to have Dlinemen who could dominate and determine the outcomes of games -- like Brockers and Logan. We haven't seen guys like that in a while.

I think about Nebraska a lot. They were dominant for so many years; what happened?

he's not part of that club, and doubt he ever will be(don't want to hear about some DIII participation award,) that defeated deer in the headlights pic of him on his haunches on the sideline during the game said a thousand words about him, and none of them good for us

I think by the end of the season, more people will agree with you.

Kelly has some serious flaws that have always hindered his ability to make his teams compete at the next level.

The only “big” thing Kelly has really won in his 3 years here was beating Alabama in 2022. Beating any of Saban’s teams is a major accomplishment that very few coaches can boast about.

But besides that, Kelly has yet to prove that he can win anything big. And no, winning the west division by default doesn’t count.

Nebraska is like 9-0 against LSU, unfortunately. You have definitely owned us.

I hope we start playing again and maybe we can even it out a bit.

So basically he can't compete for a natty because of his body language?

He wins a lot of games, that puts you in position. Maybe you catch lightning in a bottle like Michigan last year.

I don't see any candidates available that we can definitely say are better.

We were loyal to that team to a fault, meaning we always wanted to tie it back to the 94-95 teams in someway. We handed the job over to a coordinator (Solich). You know who wanted it......Barry Alvarez, he went on to be successful at WI. Then as years passed and the game evolved, yet we tried to stay loyal to what made us relevant the 90's. After everything great Tom Osborne did for for Nebraska he has only hurt the program since. Nebraska needs to cut ties with him.

What rock have you been living under since last February? BK did get someone to recruit the defensive side of the ball. This year signing day will be the first class they recruited.

Will you still be saying that 2 years from now when he has yet to even make the CFP?

I’m tired of people making bullshite excuses for BK’s inability to win anything big. It’s been 3 years and yet people are still defending him.

The red flags have been lingering around for years yet people want to continually stay in denial and pretend like BK will figure it out.

What should he have won by now?

Serious question.

If he had hired a competent DC, we probably could have made an NY6 bowl last year.

I'm not defending him, I thought I made that clear. Hence I said he would never win a National Championship. Realistically who would you like LSU to get as a coach that could get them to CFP in two years?

I agree, the original defensive hires were atrocious (in general) however every coach makes bad hires.

He fired all of them and upgraded at every position on the defensive staff, that's handling business IMO.

Taking a risk on a coach that’s younger and more hungry would have yielded a potentially larger return.
