I missed this when it was announced but saw one of the reviewers on Film Threat say it was his favorite movie of 2024.

Friday I got a wild hair for SW music, so while driving around I listened to the original saga soundtracks. Amazing music. John Williams is a once in a lifetime musician.

There is no greater film composer in the history of cinema and he just might be the most recognizable musical artist in all of history. Rick Beato laid out a fairly compelling case for this in a video a few months back:

I keep this CD in my mom's vehicle because it's one of a few my parents and I all enjoy.

He has almost too many to even count, but if I had to pick my favorite scene scored by Williams, it would be the Bike Chase in E.T.

I started playing the Harry Potter soundtracks when I read books to my kid and now he's got a 2 hour and growing nighttime playlist that has stuff from Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, Home Alone, ET, Superman,Star Wars, and even The Poseidon Adventure that he wants to hear every night. 9 times outta 10 he gets knocked out by either A Tree For My Friend from Jurassic Park or Secrets of the Castle from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

I love stuff like this.
I know zero about music and even less about creating it, so I'm always fascinated by watching docs like this.

Earlier this year we went to watch one of the Harry Potter movies accompanied by an orchestra, it was a really great experience. We've already bought tickets to see A New Hope in a couple of months. I highly recommend it if you ever get the chance.

I'd put him up there with Mozart and Beethoven, and I'm not kidding.

Still have the original Star Wars LP. Would listen to that while wearing headphones as a kid. Damn powerful.

This is, of course, a great watch. To quote the opening title card of The Last Waltz, "This film should be played loud!"
It’s a giant syringe of nostalgia plunged into your heart.
And since every documentary seems to have one “expert” who shouldn’t be there, the winner for this round is Seth MacFarlane.

I don’t know. SM is pretty musicallly gifted and I’m sure was influenced by JW a good bit.
ETA: just finished this. Excellent doc. And there are so many things, outside of the popular movie scores, that he’s done that I didn’t really realize. Stuff like the Olympics, NBC News in the 80s/90s, Monday Night Football, etc. just crazy how ingrained JW is into pop culture just about across the board. And he seems like the nicest dude in the world too.

I know he is up there in age but I hope that he lives long enough and is healthy enough to compose something for the 2028 LA Games.
Seeing/hearing him conduct the ASO playing Summon the Heros on the floor of Atlanta's Olympic stadium in 1996 was amazing and I still get chills seeing it on YouTube.
