I’m old. All we ever had was a Coleman camp stove.
Got rid of it when I was visiting the parents in AR one Christmas and everyone got snowed in. Power outages put him in the garage to cook.
Got up the 1st morning to find 80 year old civil engineer Dad cooking breakfast over the open flame in the garage…with the doors and windows closed.
After the thaw I put the kit in the trash. Parents were not able to help themselves without significant risk to themselves any longer and my duty as a responsible child became taking care of them.

I have this thing. It works pretty good for what it is. Better than any other portable gas grill I've had.

I've never heard of the traveler, the Weber Q seems to get universally great reviews. Its supposed to be one of the best boat grill options, or let me say, the best boat grill option almost unanimously.

I’ve had the Coleman road trip one for years which is pretty similar. I do like the burner setup better for the Weber. Mine has 2 round burners so I get hot spots.
One must have is the adapter hose so you can hook up a normal propane tank to the 1lb bottle connector on the grill.

I have a weber Q. I used to use it for offshore fishing, then it started replacing my kamodo for most tasks. I bet another 5 or 6 have been bought by people who saw how nice it is on the boat.

I have one of those as well. Have used it to cook at many a tailgate, beer festival, or neighborhood get together. The only problem is what you mention... hot spots. The Coleman one gets really hot and it's all direct heat unless you are cooking a really small amount and can put food on the opposite side from the active burner.
Will grill like a champ though, burgers, hot dogs, sausage, pork chops, kebabs, chicken thighs... works great.

Big WeberQ fan.
Have the large one for the house, small one for travel.
I’ve given about a dozen of them as wedding and birthday gifts.
