Despite the stats, last night was Nuss’s best game

A couple iffy balls, but for the most part he made the correct reads, showed pocket/pressure awareness, ran the ball when he needed to, handled the RPO’s and read option plays correctly, several high percentage throws, showed confidence
This is what I’ve been wanting to see from the guy. If he can keep that up, this team has a chance to win out

No inte.
Nuss’s best game is still ahead of him, likely in CFP

He played well mostly, but he had a few questionable throws.
We were lucky his back to back throws into double coverage didn't end up as INTs.
Once he starts hitting the deeper routes again, watch out.

he literally pecked Ark to death and bled the clock out all game long. I have seen us do that for a qtr or two and then let the opponent back in but he executed it all game long.
imagine if we had a serious deep threat.

BK took him to the woodshed when he came back to the sideline... on the bench this time though.

He is an absolute machine when throwing that 5-8 yard laser to the sideline. I don't think people realize how important the timing is for that throw nor the fact the ball has to travel 25-30 yards on a rope. He got it there so fast, the WR still had time to turn and pick up additional yardage every single time. Kudos to Sloan for seeing it and abusing it early and often.

Yes, he is improving each week I think.
He can continue to improve by not throwing into double coverage, as others have said. I think the safeties were often shading over to the corner to double. Gotta attack the middle of the field, including using the tight end. That’s not all on Nuss though. Coaches have to prepare him for that and help him with routes to defeat it.
But he did a really nice job of stepping up into the pocket. Several times last night he avoided pressure that way. And it allows him to step into the throw. I think this is the best he’s done that all year. Arkansas has a solid defense. Impressive performance overall.

I am fine with that performance. Just take what they give you.

There are two things that he needs to improve on that will take him far.
1. Take what the defense gives you and stop forcing throws. Short passes. short runs. just take it esp if you're rolling out and on the move with space.
2. Stop throwing it off his back foot into double coverage. Good/elite teams will destroy you.

Ark dropped a couple of shoulda/coulda INTs and kept Nuss on the field. Needs to clean up those bad judgment throws. Better to throw it away. He could check down and run when given the space. The talent is there and the team seems to be putting it together as the season goes on.

And, he ran once again!

Same Story All Year
Throws over 20yrds: 1-7(14%) , 29yds
0-9yrds: 15-17 (88%), 143yds
Missing the deep ball + WR's making plays on short passes.

To be fair, we dropped 2 or 3 easy interceptions as well. Hell, white was hit in the hands down field in coverage and dropped it.

The ONLY thing the Douche Bro announcers said right last night was those sideline passes do serve as a “running threat”

he also had a couple of deep passes where the defender was called for interference, those were bound to be completions. he overthrew Lacy on a deep post when he was wide open, he really needs to complete those opportunities. sort of a mixed bag
