You can only be a rapper, athlete, or drug dealer if you don’t want to act white.

And if black kids learned how to properly say words they would get scolded at home for talking white.


In other communities it was the opposite. Coming from a Cajun family the Cajun French left through the generations to where I just have a neutral accent but my grandmother had a heavy accent.

Yup, I had one dickhead senior manager at work tell me he was going to have a 20 something year old present a briefing instead of me, because the 20 something year old was "well spoken".

Both those assholes came from rich mid-Atlantic backgrounds and didn't understand what they were briefing.

All regional accents get shite on by the rich, Southern, Cajun, New York, Hispanic, Black, Chinese etc... Bostonian might get a pass...

Everyone else knows that it's important to have our kids have a more neutral accent so they can get ahead in life.
