Chris Hilton - What I've Heard

I recently posted this information in another thread.
Passing along information that I received from a former player that is still connected to the team. They could be 100% incorrect and making this up, but seemed the explanation carried weight, so ill share it.
The original diagnosis of the injury was a bone bruise and Hilton was listed as day-to-day as a "pain tolerance" issue. After a few weeks of the pain/issue still lingering, he was re-evaluated and it was determined there was a stress fracture. The player said something along the lines of "stress fractures are hard to put a timeline on from a healing process."
My thoughts after googling the issue. Looks like it could be an 8-12 week healing process. If the issue happened around USC, I look for him to be back for Bama.
This explanation honestly aligned with how the whole thing has unraveled.

Deja Vu with the whole Kyle Tucker situation with the Astros this year.

Hopefully he is back for the playoffs.

Yeah I never understood people mentioning suspension. The kid has done nothing wrong since he has been on campus. Hope he gets healthy and can give us some solid reps.

Sounds good to me I mean a much better explanation thanks for the info

Thanks for the intel. Sounds similar to Delvin Breaux‘s injury with the Saints. Glad they sorted it out and didn’t force him to play.

So we should except him to get injured next year too?

I'll accept an exception.

Iirc, he originally missed the tail end of fall camp with a reported ankle injury. If this is all the same injury, then you can add a couple of weeks to his recovery time.

When there’s an information vacuum, people will fill it with anything that might fit. There’s a reason Hilton isn’t playing, and the original bone bruise explanation and the weekly status updates don’t really make sense at this point. Suspension is just some people’s guess at why he may not be in the field. NIL disputes and/or leaving via the portal has been floated by others, even though that seems even more unlikely, as he’s still around the team.
A lingering or different injury seems to be the most logical explanation and the team doesn’t have to give details, so Kelly can just keep stringing things along. We know he does that to obscure some things that happen internally. The Toviano situation didn’t involve injury, but it’s another example where the public explanations of what’s happening don’t always add up.

stress fracture
Probably from reading all the negative things you guys say on here daily. I don't know how the rest of the team handles it.

And that was frustrating as hell too

The absolute worse thing you can do with a stress fracture is try to come back too soon. If the fracture is partially healed, and you reinjure the fractured bone, the next healing timeline is much longer.

Stress fractures are unpredictable in this context. Sheesh

I had a stress fracture in High School and it was really painful. That makes more sense to me.

I played my junior year in HS with a hair fracture in my right ankle. They would basically put a makeshift cast on me for practice and games. The pain was unbearable and my performance suffered. They didn't want me going to the doctor for some reason but after the season I went and they confirmed it was a fracture. Can't even imagine having to play as a receiver with that injury as I was a DE. Never healed the entire season as I didn't sit out any games. Different era back in 1979.

quote:im guessing this was meant to be funny, but seriously, I would wait and then if LSU's season stretched that long, put him back in. If we have 3 losses after Bama, just shelve him until next year.
Hopefully he is back for the playoffs

There were insiders who said even prior to the USC game that it was a stress fracture and not a bone bruise. I just don't understand why LSU has reported on it the way they have.

All coaches are vague with injury reports. Keep the other team thinking they still need to plan for a receiver that can take the top off the defense.
