Would like to get a gun safe to hold 8-10 long guns and a couple of pistols. Don't want anything too big as space is at a premium. Any recs? Thanks

If the safe says it will hold 10-12 guns, that really means 5-6. Find something in the 24-30 range. Scoped firearms take up lots of space.

Truth. I have a 64 gun safe and probably have 25 or so in there and I'm about out of room.
I will always buy a Cannon after how they handled my safe after the flood.

Definitely want a safe that holds double. I have a 64 gun safe. I’ve added custom shelving and rifle rods and it’s with with about 25 rifles, shotguns, and pistols.

I’ve got the Winchester 20 gun safe from tractor supply, like you space was at a premium for me. I have 5 long guns (3 scoped), a few pistols and a stash of ammo in there and it’s getting tight I did tetris to fit the scoped guns in tighter. If I took the ammo out and the shelves it would fit another 4-6 long guns. I think it’s about what you’re looking for. I think it’s about 24” wide

Save your receipt and safe details. You may qualify for up to a $500 State of LA income tax credit.

What is the tax rebate situation? I haven’t heard of that.

this would be an interesting thread if...

Interesting, I hadn’t heard they were doing that. Must be a FFL who sells it.

I didn't feel the need for a Fort Knox level safe, so I just bought one of those Stack-On cabinets from Academy on sale for around $100.
My main goal was to keep the kids away from them.
All I needed was a locking cabinet.

Check out tractor supply store online.

Cannon also comes with a backup key. If you're the kind of person who knows that an EMP attack or Carrington Event can happen, that's good peace of mind.

I have a similar one. I built a heavy duty wood box, for it to sit on, I don't like reaching down. I screwed the safe to the wall studs, then the bottom to the wood base. I painted the base black. My last house I sold, the guy was a former vet. He wanted my safe, the way it was set up, so it stayed with the house.
