In the spirit of spooky season, what is the biggest jump scare that got you?

I’m going to have to go with Independence Day and the alien autopsy where the head is being sliced open.
I remember watching it in the theater when I was young and I must had jumped 5 feet out my seat lol
Other notables I can think of are Exorcist 3 with the hedge trimmers and The Conjuring with that woman ghost in the washroom.

The Thing, Alien, and PeeWee's Big Adventure all come to mind.

The dead face appearing in the hole in the bottom of the boat as Richard Dreyfus is scuba diving in Jaws.

While I didn't care for the movie as a whole, Exorcist III with the nurse in the hall sequence is a good one.
Se7en when the guy you think the guy in the bed is dead and decaying but he's still alive got me pretty good.
Insidious with the demon's emergence was good.

At the beginning of the Ring a mom is talking about finding her daughter's body and it cuts to a quick shot of a closet door opening and the face of the girl and it got the shite out of me.
It's really good because you're not expecting a jump-scare there at all. And the makeup they used on the face is extremely disturbing.

Got us too when we were watching it.
Mostly because that season really didn't have "jump scares" until that point. It was all psychological thriller type stuff.

Exactly. And there was no build up in that scene. They were in the middle of a conversation.

Talk about not seeing it coming
Other than that, I swear my biggest jump scares are in horror movies that I watch in a theater and a door or something suddenly slams in the movie. It’s so loud and out of nowhere it gives me a jump

One that jumps out to me is Sinister when they're watching a home movie of a lawnmower and it's just showing grass then it runs over a body out of nowhere.
However, the biggest jump scare I can remember in my entire life was actually on a website. I'll never forget this. IT was probably ~10 years ago or maybe longer, and either on TD or reddit or something there was a topic about scary stories (I don't think ti was the super long pegasus one on OT, although I can't be certain). Anyways the link went to a website that was Japanese or something similar. The story was kind of like comic book format where it was mostly pictures with some dialogue thrown in too. it was a pretty long story so you're scrolling down for a good bit following along. The story is progressing and getting scary and after you've alredy been reading and scrolling for a while, apparnetly the webstie has some kind of programmer langauge built into it that when you scroll to a certian point it overtakes your mouse. It scrolled really far/fast on its own and some kind of demon face appeared and it made a super loud screaming noise. But let me tell you, I dont' think I've ever jumped or shouted as involuntarily in my entire life as I did in that second. This wasn't like those run of the mill "hey look really close at this picture and see if you can find the [blank]" and then it turns into a scary face, this was much more sophisticated. I'll never forget that yet I also coulnd't begin to know how to find it again.

I saw Signs as a younger kid, and about jumped out of my seat in the theatre during the scene in the kitchen with the alien locked in the pantry.
