The table in this tweet includes all of the quarterbacks who made their first career start as a Saint. Spencer Rattler is about to become #17.
Look at #10: Eric Martin. Does anyone remember this? I was 7 years old in 1985.

Its an error by PFR. If you look at the box score for the game they have a bunch of Saints starters listed incorrectly. Says Eric Martin was at QB, Dave Wilson at RB, Hokie Gajan at DE, Jim Wilks at LOLB.
It actually sucks because they say Dave Wilson went 2-22 for 30 yards and it seems impossible that an opening day starter could ever do that.

That Aaron Brooks first start was great. Came off the bench if I remember? No one knew who he was. Big rally for the win.

Martin was definitely not a QB

Aaron Brooks came in for an injured Jeff Blake against the Raiders. The Saints were 7-3 at the time and had won their last six games under Blake. The Saints lost that game to the Raiders.

But his first start was against the Rams the next week in a Saints win

I remember that blow out to KC in the Dome Eric Martin did start at QB. He never played QB in the NFL or College.

Yes that’s right. Showed up against Raiders.

Yep, beat the Rams the following week. They went 2-2 after that to close out the regular season. They went to the playoffs and beat the Rams for their first playoff victory ever. Then lost the next one. After the season he was anointed as the starter. After going 4-4 counting the Raiders game that he played about three quarters of. Thus started the downfall of the Haslett era.

Wasn't he also the unoffiicial backup punter, essentially if both our punter and kicker got hurt in the same game?
