I know it’s old news, but I remember him expressing his dream of being an NFL quarterback. In those early 2020 games, he looked really good—if it weren’t for Burrow, we’d have been beyond excited about our QB situation which drove us all insane most years.

But then he didn’t just leave or transfer, he retired from football altogether. I understand wanting to move on, but was he just not motivated anymore after that last injury? Starting over repeatedly must be demoralizing, yet after sticking it out for SO LONG, why not give it one more year? Just imagine what John Emery is going through. I don’t see that kid stopping until he physically can’t run anymore.

Unless he genuinely lost interest in football, it’s just a shame.

Late night pots may trigger depressed thoughts in some people as well.

By all accounts, dude would just rather hunt, fish and drink beer over the grind of football. No shame in that

Who doesn’t dream of being an NFL quarterback? That doesn’t mean he was remotely built to handle the adversity and reality of an athletic career. I know a segment of this board just loves their boy Myles no matter what because his daddy owns good restaurants but I really don’t remember the guys fondly who threaten to transfer every offseason and quit right before the season starts. He was soft

How many of us didn’t make really questionable decisions in our 20’s that we don’t spend much of our lives looking back on and questioning?

John E. And Mile B. come from very different financial backgrounds.

It's easy to quit when money is not an issue.

He's the one who quit.

This is 100% understandable. Right in my wheelhouse as well.

None. The dream requires hard work and dedication to fulfill and I think he lost that. By all accounts he was third in the QB competition in 2022, I think that either gives some insight into the degree of dedication or maybe caused it.

I have a friend who it took until midway through last year when it became obvious how good Daniels was before he got over Brennan not being named starter. I think he took it harder than Brennan.

I could have started for LSU and been an NFL quarterback. I just wasn't good enough.

I think he got burnt out like most of us in our careers. At some point he realized he could be happy being a husband working a decent salaried gig and spending his free time hunting and fishing.

When you've had enough, you've had enough.

That stadium is filled with the tales of guys who have had tough breaks and expectations unfulfilled. It's sad at times, but the brutal nature of the game is one of its most compelling characteristics.

He got passed up by Nuss and Jayden. I guess he could have just stayed on the team that season but he would have never played. He also saw they were excited about Walker Howard at the time. The emotional toll it takes to wait your turn so many times eventually gets to be too much. He’s set for life as far as money, enjoys outdoors, and was also about to get married so he decided to move on with his life. Who knows if he’ll ever regret it but I know he’s still a big fan of LSU.
