So I got a funky situation happen to me today. The aerator for the septic tank at my house has not been working in doodoo water was pulling up in the yard. Well, he got the aerator working and blowing, but we recently took the icemaker out recently. Unknown to anyone the drain pipe from the icemaker was uncapped and open. The aerator had been pushing only God knows how much sewer gas straight into the house for hours today while I was at work. When I got home, I opened the door and walked straight into a septic tank smell that literally had me about to puke and pass out. I have sealed the pipe suppling the smell and opened all the windows to let the air out. It’s been 4 hours since I got home and the smell is still insufferable. Any ideas on how to get the smell out faster?

ETA: Smell came back for the third time in a week. I am losing my patience with this crap.

Man up baw, I'm typing this as I'm taking a shite right now.

But seriously, air that bitch out. All windows and doors open and any fans need to be blowing all the way. And maybe stay the night at a hotel

I am doing that. I even got box fans propped up on the outside of my windows.

Can’t be. The air has all been pumped into the house.

You've got shite particles floating all in your place and has now settled on all of your things. That sucks.

I got ten boxes out.

I read online that you can put charcoal in bowls and it will absorb the smell. Anyone ever heard of that?

You should get used to the smell after a few days.

Need to pump that tank baw. You have a tail line draining to a ditch someplace ?

I haven’t had my aerator working in years. I don’t know if those things push back in the house but I’d unplug it if you suspect that and get a septic guy out there.

I just moved in and the septic pump was broken when I bought the property. I had the septic guy out today. New pump installed and working. The problem was an untapped pipe in the kitchen.
