2019 Ram 1500 - update page 2

A Buddy of mine is selling a Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn with 30k miles. What are the issues to be concerned about or items to look for before purchasing? It's at a friend discount and I don't think I can pass up the deal.

I have a 2019 with only 45K. He may have bought it in 2020 like I did.

Coworker bought used that exact model. Battery had to be replaced twice due to some 'extra' battery or something like that. Spent 2 months in shop as there was no part available for it. He said is a well known issue.

I have had no issues with a 2019 Rebel. One of the more common issues is the rear window leak.

I had a 2019 4x4 bighorn . Best truck i ever had until 100k miles. Windshield water sprayer broke, back reverse light leaked like a sieve and 4wd went out.
First 4 years no problems and I loved that truck. Thought about getting another one, but went back to a v6 tacoma.

I have heard about the window leak and but not the 4wd going out. Is the window leak something i can fix easily or a recall?

More like, who puts excessive miles on a $50k truck just to get to their cubicle job?

Flowable silicone.
The 2019s aren't bad, had one for a while. The powertrain is carried over from the 4th gen trucks, so nothing new there. Some of the 19s and 20s had an issue with the AC not blowing cold enough air. Some guys were 'fixing' it by simply putting a clamp on the heater hose.

I had a 2019 Limited and loved it. Traded it for a 2023 2500 Laramie. If the price is good I would buy it.

I see these are know for their ticking sound either exhuast manifold cracking or possibly lifters ticking. Anyone know much about this?

On my 2nd 5th gen Ram. Will have a 3rd eventually unless something really changes with the mid-size truck category.

After I traded it in I received a letter saying they would change out the lights but it wasn't an official recall.
I had buried my lil brother the day before and went to put the truck in 4wd pulling my boat out. The 4wd light kept blinking and it would not go into 4 wd.
No warning lights came on. I tried it the next morning again and it still didn't go into 4wd. Traded it in 6 hours later.

Piggybacking on this.
What Ram dealerships would you all recommend in BR or surrounding areas?

The HEMI tick and the exhaust manifold leak/crack are both known issues. Use quality synthetic oil and change it at decent intervals to help prevent the tick. If you like to change the oil yourself be prepared for the horrible location of the oil filter over the front axle. If it's equipped with the E Tourque system, be prepared for that to shite the bed. That's the "extra" battery someone mentioned before. The AC will not blow as cold as you're used to, especially if you're coming from a GM product.

I have two close friends with Dodges that both have manifold leaks. Heck, if you know the sound you can hear it at a lot of red lights. How that was never recalled is wild.

To buy one? Mark Dodge in Lake Charles hands down.

If it has the Hemi, watch out. I am already having engine issues on a 2017 with 118k on it. I believe this is a well known issue, but not sure if it applies to a 2019 as well.
