Will LSU win another national title in football before Alabama does? Will LSU's next one occur within 5 years?

I expect "yes" on both. Even if Saban builds as good a program as he did at LSU, there's a pretty good chance he'll never win a National Championship. And with the caliber of talent Miles has and continues to bring in, plus his proven ability to maintain an elite level program, there's a pretty good chance he'll hit the big prize again in the next 5 years.

LSU will absolutely win another championship within the next five years. They have enough talent, with the incoming recruits, to be contenders until 2011. Bama has a chance to win it in 2-3 years. I say 2-3 bc they will be breaking in a new QB.

I agree with the "yes" on both. This year was a fluke.

Did King Joey say Miles' ability to maintain an elite level program. Is that what you call a 8-5 record. That's pretty funny. We will see if this year was a fluke, and if yall are better than Alabama, Ole Miss, Georgia, and Florida, or if its just wishful thinking.

Bama will win a national championship before we win another. In year two Saban turned that program from chaos into a hardnosed team that is tough, physical, and well coached. They lost last night, and it was a prime example of a team wanting to be in another game. Realistically, I just think the tide have a better chance of winning a national title.

I'm curious. what makes you think Saban can't coached them to a national title?

No, that's what I call an 11-2, 11-2 and 12-2 National Championship record. I call one 8-5 season an aberration.

Sounds to me like he's suggesting a "won't" rather than a "can't." Perhaps he suspects Saban will jump ship yet again.

And in year two he turned our program into an SEC Championship team. We all saw how the next season turned out. Two years later he did lead us to a National Championship, but that 2003 season was by no means typical of Saban's teams. It may very well happen again, but I just don't see it as more likely than not, especially with the current state of the SEC compared to where it was then.

You must be pretty optimistic about this new defensive staff.

, but we have a better shot because of our recruiting advantages. While Bama is a talent-rich state, it is heavily recruited by Bama, Auburn, UTenn, and Jawja. LSU has Louisiana all to itself and rarely loses a Louisiana recruit that we want.

Hard to say. The stars have to align for any school to win the big one. We'll definitely be in the hunt over the next 5 years.

More a combination of optimism about our defensive talent and extreme pessimism about our previous defensive staff. I believe it took an absolutely abysmal failure of coaching to produce a defense as bad as ours this season. I see no reason not to be 99% confident Chavis & staff will be at least competent, which would translate into a vast improvement on the defensive side of the ball.

Don't be too surprised if the winner of the LSU/UA game wins the national title in the next few years.

I don't know when the next time 'Bama will win a NC is, but I personally think 2011 is our year to win it all.
