TOKYO (AP) — An unexploded U.S. bomb from World War II that had been buried at a Japanese airport exploded Wednesday, causing a large crater in a taxiway and the cancellation of more than 80 flights but no injuries, Japanese officials said.
Land and Transport Ministry officials said there were no aircraft nearby when the bomb exploded at Miyazaki Airport in southwestern Japan.
Officials said an investigation by the Self-Defense Forces and police confirmed that the explosion was caused by a 500-pound U.S. bomb and there was no further danger. They were determining what caused its sudden detonation.

US lost a nuclear warhead in the swamp near Wilmington NC. What if that thing went off.

I'm a UXO tech. We still find 500 lbers every now and then on Guam. It wasn't ever cleaned up after WW2 till the last 15 years
Thats an odd place to dispose of it. Usally that's a bip. Blow in place

Glad I read your post. I was rapidly typing “are you under the impression those are parallel yellow brick roads”

If a frog had wings, it wouldn't bump its arse every time it tried to jump.

It blows my mind because they still find them in Germany as well nearly 80 years after the war ended. They are mostly found on railroad track when doing maintenance. Very rarely do they explode though.

I think you are underestimating the leftist anti-semites that exist in our country, and how the USS Liberty has been over played in every Israel/Hamas thread.

I guess they knew the bomb was there but didn’t think it posed a threat or? How the frick would they know this all already otherwise
