Say what you will about South Alabama, but they had 4 downs to get 9 yards. they had a good running QB, decent options game and a good short passing game and we stopped them. thats not easy

Even on a great play, we still got Jordan Allen completely whiffing

Ended up costing me $120 but it is what it is. I’m not mad.

I was there with the remaining 10,000 LSU fans screaming to let the the defense know that there are still true fans that wait until the fat lady sings while the other 5,000 fans were hoping to cheer for their team to score.

That was gang tackling on that play. Good teamwork.

The defense is improving week by week.

They did what they needed to do this week and made that big play. I don’t recall the team making a play like that at all last year regardless of opponent.

Havoc is way up, and the plays USA made last night weren’t due to busts. We had players there blitzing and diving for the ball. Eventually those efforts will pay off.

I haven’t seen much out of Allen. Was hoping for more.

The problem with Allen’s effort on this play for those that downvoted, is that he avoids contact. Burns and Weeks looked for the contact. Allen was in position to bring contact but shied away from it, in my view. You want your safeties to be willing to come downhill, seek contact and get the ball carrier down.

No indeed not. A shifty runner changed directions at the last instant. And the reason he changed directions, and gave Burns and Weeks an opportunity, is because he had to avoid Allen.

Hell, I said, "That was easy" about the run, and then, "Spoke too soon."

I'm shocked he didn't score and it was because Burns closed the gap so fast, it was startling.

o/u 64.5 so a TD wouldn’t have helped there. & they wouldn’t have covered the +20.5 spread even if it was 42-17

I agree, it's subtle and incremental and I think many don't believe it happening, but if you are paying attention, it's happening - there is improvement.

Now we still just flat out don't have the overall talent we should on defense at LSU, the reasons are many and varied and worth a separate thread but there is definite improvement and progress IMHO.

Defense deserves credit. That’s tough to stop, no matter who they play. And SA has a good QB.

This is where Burns is actually pretty damn good. He’s a strong downhill player.
