Looking to get some smaller binos for this season. Last year I bought the vortex viper hd 10x42’s. I like them, they’re just kind of big and on the bulky side. I’m not huge on binos in general, so if they’re not comfortable to carry, they’ll get left at the house. I’ve been looking at the diamondback 8x28’s and 8x32’s. Anybody have either size? Are the 28’s going to be too small to be effective? I have the new Sitka bino harness on the way to carry them and my rangefinder.

I bought a pair of leupold bx-4 8x32 primarily for turkey season, but I use them deer hunting as well, especially bow season. I like my 10x42s when I’m sitting on the power line though, but for your usual deer stand ranges in the southeast, 8x32 is plenty.

I have not looked through the diamondbacks though.

I have the Diamondback 10x42 and use them in a chest pack all season. I don't find them too big or bulky so I would imagine the 8x32 would be perfect size.

Man I have owned quite a few binos now. If you aren’t ever going to keep the on a tripod or window mount and you don’t want any tech like image stabilization or rangefinding in them, Maven B3 8x30s are perfect.

I have a pair of Steiner 10x26 binos, small, compact in case, great vision. Would certainly recommend…

I’ve used Swarovski 8x30 SLCs for about 25 years. Perfect size.

Have you considered a monocular instead? I love my Hawke monocular. Small compact and good optics with the ED glass.

Is that a compact bino harness? I went with a badlands harness and it fits my 8x32 perfectly, no added bulk.

I got a pair of these for a trip this summer since they were very packable. Backpacker has them in BR. I loved their quality for the size.

When i saw this thread, I was going to post this. I bought a monocular last year and found it easier to use requiring less overall movements and much more compact to carry around.

I bought a vortex for turkey season, and it’s better than nothing, but I stuck it in my wife’s vest after I got my leupold 8x32s.
