2024-2025 LSU Basketball team

This team is going to tell us everything we need to know about CMM. I expect us to be decent around 6th to 9th in the SEC, Bubble team or if we don't make it in a run in the NIT. Talent will not be the issue this year and there is no excuse for this team to play with a lack of effort.
I expect Corey Chest to impress early and make us question his redhshirt and Cam Carter to have a Jordan Wright like impact.

Nah we are gonna overperform again, I see McMahon taking us to a 4th place finish in the SEC and we finally make the tournament again. I feel like we have too much talent on this team now to not finish above 6th.

winning games we should to start, no more Nicholls slipups
at-least 20 wins, .500 or better in the SEC, NCAA tournament appearance is achievable to me

I read a magazine the other day (don't remember if it was Lindy's or Athlon), and they predicted LSU being dead last in the SEC.
I honestly think we'll be middle of the pack in the SEC. Maybe like 6-9. Bubble tourney team/NIT team. Don't see us being better than teams like Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, Arkansas, Kentucky, but everything else is wide open.

Watch for the change in TEMPO. They are flying up and down the floor this year. Everyone on roster can run. Sears will be running the show. Can we make enough 3’s cus we gonna shoot a bunch….. Very excited.

I genuinely think LSU will be pretty competitive this year. I'm not gonna toot my own horn and say we will be a top-25 team at some point this year, but we will hover around the 26-50 range.
To what I expect to be our starting 5(below), you finally have a year those starters are junior/seniors that have been playing 30ish minutes a game for several seasons with quality competitive experience.
We have some good quality depth as well. Just light years better than CMM first year when you had 5-6 guys that were worth playing and even some of them were rough.
PG:Jordan Sears/MikeWilliams/CGivens
SG: Cam Cater/Mike Willaims/VMiller
SF: Ty Ward/Dji Bailey
PF: Jalen Reed/Corey Chest/Damion Collins
C: Derek Fountain/Robert Miller/Noah Boyde
Jalen Reed and Ty Ward are due for big seasons. Sears is a scorer. Cam Carter is a defensive nightmare. Derek Fountain is a hustler who nabs boards like its no ones business. I have no idea what to expect out of Noah Boyde who really is our only true center. Corey Chest is intriguing.
Our trio true freshman class is also the best class CMM has brought in and I'd expect a few of them to shine quickly and get serious playing time.
As you can tell, Im excited.

I expect Sears, Carter, Ward, Chest, and Reed to start.
Fountain and Bailey first off the bench.
Ward has to be better defending this year if not Bailey will take over.

Year 1 of the MM era according to Scott

quote:Yeah you're probably right. Fountain is the one guy out of the starting 5 I labeled that I was unsure about. I'm also curious how quickly Robert Miller will translate to college level. He could very well be an Emmitt Williams type impact, but that's wishful thinking.

Should be the aim.

Hopefully the tournament appearance is better than the 2003 first round exit versus Purdue

With a solid mix of returning vets and really talented incoming freshmen along with transfers, we have the makings of being a sneaky good team this season as long as McMahon doesn't screw it up

I mean, I'm pulling for CMM I really am but overperforming? I think you overrate the rest of the SEC from last year. And year one was certainly not an overperformance.

Still chapped about that one. I was a middle schooler at the time. Fired up about the game all day, get off the bus and run inside to flip on the game. Game was tied at the half, then LSU got absolutely shite rocked in the second half

quote:the Depth Chart I posted is for players who will get playing time this year. No offense to Trey'Dez who I think is a good basketball player, but he won't see minutes over Reed/Chest/Fountain/Miller/Boyde in year 1. Especially considering he isn't practicing with the team during football season. He is way behind the curve for a true freshman (at no fault to his own).
Need to add TreyDez
Someone trying to play football and basketball in college is incredibly tough.

I think I was in 6th grade.

I wasn't a big fan of CMM early on, but I kinda like what he's doing. I think he's making steady progress. He inherited a mess, but has us going in the right direction. He needs to really get it going in the next year or two though
