Episode 1
The part where they show a small interview clip of a kid from the crowd in the 80s
Interviewer: Tell me a wrestler you don't like?
Kid: The Sheik
Interviewer: Why?
Kid: He's from another country.

Futurama had a great joke about that exact thing

That was the vibe in the mid 80s to early 90s....
Iron Sheik, Rocky 4, Die Hard.... People that sound different than Americans are always the bad guys

I might have to watch this just based on some of the snippets of quotes I am seeing on social media:
Stone Cold Steve Austin says he does not believe in CTE:
“My take on it has always been if you’re just wrestling, and you got a bunch of concussions you’re probably just doing something wrong.”
“I’m not a CTE guy I just don’t believe in it”
Oh boy.
And this Vince quote:
“I didn’t rape Rita Chatterton. But if I did, the statute of limitations has expired.”
Yikes

He's basically saying that if you are injuring your wrestling partner, then you're a fuking hack anyway and shouldn't be wrestling.

I don’t know about that he doesn’t say anything about taking care of your partner in the ring in that quote. And in the very next sentence, he goes on to bluntly and directly say I don’t believe in CTE because the context of the conversation was about brain trauma.

I think Chris Benoit disproves his line of thought.

Or is he saying that if you have a reckless style, i.e. you do a DIVING HEADBUTT every match, this could be a large contributing factor?

Bob Costas said it best: Pro Wrestling has always been a soap opera

Got Damn man Vince is truly one of the most fascinating people that has ever walked this earth. Truly a legendary figure that helped mold and change media, truly a piece of shite, truly a wrestling and booking genius, truly a fricking weirdo.
Every 5 minutes I'm all in and love the Mr. McMahon character and then every 5 minutes I want that fricker to rot in prison and burn in hell

30 minutes into the first episode and my main takeaway is holy shite, Vince's face is weird.

As for the documentary, most of it is stuff I already knew throughout the years but it is still very good so far. One thing I didn’t know was that McMahon’s first choice to be his first champion was Dusty but he turned him down. That might explain the yellow polka dots.

nothing really new revealed if you follow wrestling. which is disappointing.
i guess if you are an outsider, it could be interesting.

I grew up watching WWF but stopped following before John Cena joined. So, I don’t know/remember most of the story. This has been an incredible watch.

Id still love one night with Stephanie McMahon
And don’t get me started on Trish Stratus back in the early 2000s. I ruined a bunch of socks in that era

Benoit was also roided to hell and back as well as being mentally disturbed since his close friend Eddie Guerrero dropped dead of a heart attack about a year earlier.
Benoit possibly had CTE but they couldn’t prove it because the remains were too decayed by the time the bodies were discovered.

Didn’t know that either but people playing the “what if” game on who would have had the spot if not Hogan, such as Jim Cornette, said Dusty would have been a great choice but not necessarily interested since he wanted to book a territory and wouldn’t get that opportunity in New York.
