Leesville at Many. Xavier Ford, Leesville RB has over 700 yds rushing in two games. Many seems down this year, could reach 1000 in 3 games.

Ringgold at Tensas…

The bad teams in our state seem to be finding each other nowadays

Tensas is 1-1 this year, as is Ringgold. Both beat Plain Dealing.

Neither Pine Prairie nor North Central have won a game in the last two years. Pine has lost 23 straight.

Around here, you schedule North Central or Pine Prairie for homecoming whenever possible. And this area is weak when it comes to High School football.

I cant see a worse matchup. Combined 33 straight losses is pretty strong.

I could see Central pouring it on. As much as I hate to say it, Simmoneaux has them working like a machine over there.

Let me also say I have been at SLYFA (or whatever it is called) youth football playoff games at Central involving teams from the LP where the coaches/parents damn near come to blows over 7-8 year old football. The amount of class in Central is never high but it may be at an all time low with this game.

BS

Go to any little league games and that happens… not just the LP. We just don’t break out guns like 3rd world BR…

Interested to see how Walker fares… first real test.

I didn't say it was just the LP. I lumped Central (LP West) in with it.

I have done some travel baseball, youth football parenting and I know it happens with a lot of folks, but man if it hasn't involved the LP or Central every time I have seen it.

Michael Ford is his uncle. Xavier ford rushed for 400 yards last week. Only the 2nd wampus cat to ever do so. The other was his uncle Michael Ford.

Homer at Haynesville

The Claiborne Parish SuperBowl

This game is early this season. I nearly missed it when scanning the schedule this week. I guess Homer moved back to 2A, so no longer in the same district.

Biggest rivalry in the state by far. It has the history, longevity, bragging rights, politics, and the hate required to fuel a great rivalry.

Homer had been on a nice run until last year. The Pelicans had defeated Haynesville four years in a row, while making a couple of trips to the Dome, winning a State Championship in 2021.

Haynesville ended that streak last season. Shutting out Homer in the last week of the regular season to claim their district championship. The Golden Tornado then had a good playoff run before losing to Oak Grove in the title game. Haynesville has been on a bit of a drought. Their last state title was in 2014.

Haynesville Golden Tornado (2-0)
17 State Championships (First title in 1924)
10 times the runner-up

Homer Pelicans (0-2)
(losses were to 4A & 5A schools)
4 State Championships (First title in 1928)
6 times finished the runner-up

Haynesville leads the series 74-37-5
First game: 1907
117th meeting (every season since 1907)

That’s only the regular season record. The teams have also met in the playoffs. The most memorable game was the 1971 State Championship. The teams had tied in the regular season. Haynesville rolled through the playoffs without allowing a single point until Homer managed a TD in the title game. The 2A state championship game ended tied at 7-7.

Haynesville was awarded the victory due to gaining more first downs than Homer. Losing a state championship to your neighbor and arch rival because of an arbitrary stat like first downs is a pill too bitter to swallow. That type of loss seeps down into the DNA of a community, but that’s only one of many factors that fuel this rivalry.
