Will we have a 1000 yard receiver this year?

Seems like we are spreading the ball around a lot more. Not sure anyone will get enough yards to reach over 1000. I see a few getting really close 800-900.

Personally I don't think we will have a 1000 yard receiver. But I like that Nuss is spreading the ball out a lot with more receivers getting involved. Makes it harder for opponents to select who to guard because there are so many options for Nuss.

I still think Kyren blows up and has a big year. I think he will have 3-4 100 yard games and be right there, especially if we play 13 or more games( which I fully expect)

In 2022 in the first three games for our 1000-plus receiver, LSU spread the ball around to 14 recievers:

Malik Nabers 14 catches 199 yards

Last season in the first three games for our two 1000-plus receivers had the numbers below, LSU spread the ball around to 13 recievers:

Malik Nabers 24 catches 393 yards
Brian Thomas Jr. 20 catches 280 yard

This season our top 4 receivers have the following

Aaron Anderson 15 catches 223 yards
Kyren Lacy 17 catches 222 yards
Mason Taylor 17 catches 160 yards
CJ Daniels 11 catches 143 yards

I tend to think Lacy or Anderson will get very close. Taylor has a shot to get a lot of catches as well.

I have a feeling that he’s about to have some monster games, especially if teams are focusing on Anderson/Lacy more and more.

Receivers maybe Hilton or Anderson if we start throwing more deep.

Right now Anderson is on pace for 966 over 13 games, and Lacy is on pace for 962.

With 7 of 9 remaining regular season games being SEC opponents, it seems unlikely. Especially if Hilton comes back and starts taking some of the target share (although Nuss is already spreading the targets out quite a bit so it might not have much impact).

That being said, it’s certainly possible if the offense starts humming and either Lacy or Anderson have a couple of huge games. I think it’s more likely that both end up in the 800ish range.

I think we will. Probably Lacy when all said and done.

Over a 13 game season that’s only about 76 yards a game

Good info posting the stats.

I agree with you then Anderson and Lacy seemingly appear to have the best chance to reach 1000. Over 13 games, 1000 yards averages out to just under 77 ypg and they’re both at 74 ygp

I would say Taylor is highly unlikely bc, in addition to being at only 53 ypg, his yards per catch are below 10. I don’t see him catching more than 100 balls or greatly improving that.

Part of this is because Nabers played in 14 games in 2022. His full-season average was pretty close to Lacy and Anderson’s average so far this year, but he had damn near 300 yards between the SECCG and bowl game.

Which really runs counter to the nonsense that he locks in on Lacy.

I hope we have so much success throwing to the TE and RB…that we don’t have a 1000 yard receiver. Spread it all over the field. We have a chance against better defenses if we do.

Lacy for sure. Mason Taylor maybe goes over 500 if we feed him as much as we have been, which I think would be just as impressive as having another 1k WR.

Nope . I think Hilton comes back and you start seeing more of the younger guys like green and Sampson getting involved so it will be pretty spread out . There’s not 1 first rounder on this WR group

Don't see how this happens unless we either establish a run or screen game to bring opponents' safeties in.

Crazy in its 100+ year history LSU has only had 12 seasons with a receiver go for 1000 yards. Wouldn't be a shock at all to not have one this season.

They use to play less games and run the ball a whole lot more.
