It’s time to squeeze the goalposts in in the NFL

These kickers smash 50+ yarders right down the middle with ease every week. All teams need to do is get to the 40 yard line and it’s basically a guaranteed 3 pts. Especially with how specialized the kicker position has become over the years.
Every team’s kicker has a power leg so now I think it’s time to put more weight on accuracy at those distances.
Making a field goal “harder” will also give us more 4th down attempts if the offenses are between the 30 and 45 yd line.
I’d be happy if the NFL moved the posts in one yard on each side. Thoughts?

I think they should get rid of kicks for scoring altogether.

Put some guys with shotguns at the goal line and let them try to shoot the ball down.

No punts. You have to go for it on every 4th down.
Only TDs should score. 1 pt each. No extra point.
Safeties are automatically 4th down at the 1. You have to go for it.
Kickers should leave the game and play soccer.
Except for kickoffs.

We would probably have a lot of posters here that would try to argue kickers used to be better back in the day if the stats weren’t so damning.

My point was we have people on here that think everything was better back in the day to the point that they’d even entertain arguing for kickers if the stats weren’t so daunting.

That was a thing until either last year or the year before, and no matter how many stats you showed them, kicking was better back in the day.

Yeah, it's gotten a little ridiculous. 50-59 yards is almost automatic these days.
