he's been really effective on the short to intermediate throws, and has thrown some nice 30 plus yard passes into the end zone. he has been off on the long balls for the most part. If he can get those going the running game has to open up. I know he can do it.

success breeds success. here's to him connecting on at least one or two this saturday.

But the safeties have to fear the running game in order for our WRs to get behind them right? Chicken or egg or egg then chicken?

No, he needs to just run once a quarter to keep LBs and safeties honest.

i agree with you both. the point is, whatever it takes, he needs to hit the long one. and we know he can throw it and our guys should be able to get open and catch it.

Stretch the field with the long ball at least 2-3 times per game.

When teams are running two high safeties that is a bit challenging. Running the ball more effectively forces a safety in the box and opens up one on one opportunities down the field. We need to start winning “fist fights”…

Why the hell are we talking about what Nuss needs to do? He is literally the one person that isn't part of any of the problems.

Apparently according to tRant he just needs to put on some Patrick Swayze and run like the wind into a defender.

He has no receivers to run the routes.

Teams have been stacking the box. Plays need to be called to counter that instead of calling plays 5 yards beyond the line of scrimmage both run and pass. Force them to back off and then you open up running lanes.

Okay. I'll tell that to the young man right now.

Defenses have not only stacked the box but also playing DBs to not allow
the deep ball.LSU s offense is taking what they are given. Now I agree that
Nuss should just throw it long a few times to make their D fall back on their heels.

It was the 2nd year for JB & JD at LSU before they developed & then perfected their “long ball”.

Maybe Nuss will get the long ball working once Hilton & Parker are back in the starting fold? Lets hope so.

Is some of this just Nuss taking what the defense gives him?

I’d like to see more between the hash passing beyond 5 yards.

Nuss has played extremely well. I think it’s more of him just taking what’s there and protecting the ball.

It really comes down to one thing, run the damn ball. If we can do that well, good luck to defenses.

Need to get Anderson(#1) moved around to get a LB on him and drop a crossing route in his mits.

Yards:

1. Jaxson Dart, MISS
2. Taylen Green, ARK
3. Garrett Nussmeier, LSU
4. Nico Iamaleava, TENN
5. Carson Beck, UGA

TDs

1. G. Nussmeier, LSU
2. C. Beck, UGA
3(TIE). J. Dart, MISS
J. Arnold, OU
Q. Ewers, TEX

Completion %

1. J. Dart, MISS
2. D. Pavia, VAN
3. G. Nussmeier, LSU
4. N. Iamaleava, TENN
5. B. Cook, MIZ

Seems Dart & Nussmeier only 2 on all three lists. And both are top three on all three lists.

You do realize Chris Hilton hasn’t played and Kyle Parker went out at the beginning of the USC game, right?

I agree with you. I guess the downvotes are because Nuss has been playing well. Don't want him to force it, but would like to see more shots than we have taken. We have been taking what the defense has given so far, but we have some speed, so should let it rip a little more than we have. He has the arm. We can't be too predictable.
