Why can’t this be done? frick Burns, I like Penn as a teammate but he’s just not better than West Weeks and Whit is by far our best LB, even over Perkins. Let Jackson and Spears get more snaps at safety these next couple weeks. Perkins has to realize he will never be a 3 down LB. We need to free him up to go after the ball. I don’t care if that’s moving him to Star or just using him as an edge rusher but him in the middle of our defense is awful. They run it right up the middle at Perkins. Whit Weeks is the guy that needs the green dot on his helmet and leading the defense.

But we give out numbers so coaches are obligated to play him. We really need to stop that shite. And no I’m not talking about Perkins.

He’s badly lost because he has to think at MLB. Perkins slows down when he has to think and he’s useless then. We have to put him in a position that he just has to see ball, hit ball. Whit Weeks is the guy you want controlling the defense.

I get everything you’re saying.

But one of the very few benefits of the doubt I give this team is Baker being able to figure out which lb’er can play best for him at which position. And he may very well end up making changes. Theres likely a reason or reasons for the way it is.

There’s no way this looks any different in practices. Very odd defensive depth chart, not sure why weeks ever comes off the field.

If the coaches don’t see this and make these moves I believe we are looking at a 4-5 loss season unfortunately. Sure would have been nice to sign Kelly to a 5 year contract or not at all.

Take Tank Guillory out of that, I got a feeling he’s done for the year. Rumors are achilles apparently.

Very comical that Kelly is only now seeing that Whit Weeks is his best LB and will finally give him the PT he deserves. Seems everyone in the world knew this, but Kelly.

Perkins is a phenomenal athlete but he isn’t disciplined at his job and assignments. A lot of it probably has to do with wanting to make plays but you have to do it within the confines of the defense. He is overplaying his gaps to the motion and gets out of position then gets sealed off and creates huge cutback lanes. From what I’ve seen of Penn, he gets out of position also. Got to have great eye and gap discipline. I agree with you on where and who should be playing those positions. Some of the young guys on defense looked good last night. Zy will make that secondary waaaayyy better if he can stay healthy.

Has he taken any substantive snaps? I have high hopes for this one.

You didn’t see him last night then. Zy played a great game for it to be his 1st back from an ACL. He is your CB2 behind Stamos. Woodland may jump him this year but right now it’s Stamps and Zy.

He played a ton last night. He played ahead of Womack it seems, which I just don’t understand. He played really well I thought.

No matter how good our DB's could be, we'll hardly get any push from our interior D-line. And our confused and overrated LB's sans Whit have played really bad. No group of DB's would look good with almost zero help.
