Kelly needs to bring the BIg Cat Drill Back

Especially the lineman. The lineman on this team needs to big cat every Tuesday during the season. Our O line run blocks like a run and shoot team. Bring back the toughness Kelly. Bring back the big cat.

Nah, physicality wasn't an issue.

LSU hasn't been physical like they were under Miles in a long time. Say what you want about Miles (and I have quite a few criticisms about him also) but his teams were almost always very physical and tough.

It sounds stupid but I agree. This team needs to take pride in being the most physical team on the field. Team feels all finesse with no mean streak.

Prefer him to bring back in-game adjustments

One practice drill ain’t gonna fix what lost us the USC game.

This team from coaches to players is SOFT. Ole gummy bear Campbell is your soft player captain

Why is no one acknowledging that USC has 4 studs on the DL?
They took a stud DT from Georgia, UCLA's top lineman (a top 10 defense), Vandy's top DL, and one of the stud DL that A&M bought under Jimbo.
That was a top 5 DL that we played.

Agree to disagree. I’m not saying we need to go back to big cat drill, but we were not as physical in run blocking as I expected us to be. Particularly in the TE’s.

I think there probably is something to be said for lack of physicality in practice affecting run blocking, at least I hope that's the explanation...
eta: I'm not saying bringing back big cat corrects that at all

You wouldn't say that to Aaron Anderson, much less Will Campbell.
Fricking keyboard warriors, acting all tough while complaining like little girls.

Need to get back to that. Whatever Miles was doing was working to make them tough. Now we get gassed during the games instead of at the end of the season.

Full pads and full contact basically every day and all day. I’ve heard the same from my football friends

Yes and put his fat arse right in the middle for bone headed leadership or lack thereof

I do recall that being the rumor on here as to why some of Miles' teams seemed to wilt in November.
Undoubtedly, there must be a happy medium of getting more physical reps in early to prep the team for it by game one, then scaling back during the season to allow for recovery without fatigue. I'm still curious what the 2011 team did differently in preparation for the opener against Oregon. There was talk of preparing differently than usual, and that D started the season fast and never wore down. (The issue being that the offense took a turn for the worse for the last few games)
My issue with the Big Cat as it was filmed and shown here was that it seemed an inefficient use of time to have the whole team stand around while two players would go at it... Maybe there's something to instilling pride if you know the whole team is watching you win or lose a rep while the head coach officiates that makes you dig deeper, but otherwise, it seems it would be more efficient (given time constraints of practice hours) to have more guys going at it at once.
