How difficult would it be to build a cage out of the same aquarium type glass they have against the water in his habitat? I’m sure it would muffle outside noise fairly well and we’d be able to see him more clearly.

Is the issue more so the amount of visual stress or is it the noise? I feel like they could make this tradition work while still meeting “accredited tiger sanctuary” criteria if they really wanted to. If it’s not worth a shot with Mike VII due to his age, then at least give a shot when Mike VIII comes along?

What is it that you are trying to achieve by doing all this?

The tiger's sanity is not of issue.

It's all about the appearance of the tiger's sanity and care.

You know it was a bad week one when posters are starting threads about parading Mike around - the staple of June topics.

yes you are taking crazy pills. Im no vet but the experts in charge of him have discussed the visual as well as the noise as being an issue. go to the zoo if you want to see a tiger. and putting him in a sealed "aquarium" is definitely not the answer.

On second thought, I could be on board if OP is sealed with him.

mike hasn't been moved from his habitat since he got there. It would be difficult or impossible to change that routine.

Even with the next mike, being carted around a stadium with loud noises and flashing lights would mess with its sanity. He'd have to be drugged to get him anywhere and I think as a society we've grown past doing that.

Pumping air conditioned air into the trailer is simplicity itself! Exhaust can be filtered to deaden sound.

Edit: I assume you don’t object to the engineering, but are downvoting because you have butt hurt over Mike in Tiger stadium. And y’all hate to see any objections logically destroyed in front of your faces.

It was never about crowd noise/lights, it’s the dumbass fireworks/cannon noise.

Can’t they just NOT do the fireworks/cannon? I would much rather have the Tiger

It's a fricking Tiger who's never left his habitat since he's been here.

There is no way herding or drugging an eight-year old, 450 pound apex predator into a small cage like that to parade him around in front of screaming throngs, flashing lights, and unpredictably loud noises is a good idea. Wtf is wrong with y'all, just look at him, he's happy where he is.

I mean, they literally did it every game for 50+ straight years. It didn’t suddenly become impossible 15 years ago.

He'd break a tooth and the glass. Can't use it. That's why they stopped people from turning their backs to him at the glass in his habitat and getting him to pounce.

Just put his favorite food in there and off you go. Add treat dispenser to keep the experience positive.

WTF is wrong with you? Other Mikes enjoyed their outings. Why do you ASSUME this one won’t?

Because the vets literally said there were times he really didn't want to go in there. Also, this is a NEW tiger, not the one we've had before. And this tiger has NEVER been out of his habitat. Do you want to risk doing that and exposing him to conditions he's never been exposed to prior to your enjoyment? There are risks here.
