When your QB plays very well, and you score 20...

...you definitely have terrible offensive coaching.
Simulated conversation between "reason" and BK/LSU's OCs at halftime:
Reason: "Run didn't work, pass worked very well in the first half. What will you do more after halftime?"
BK/LSU's OCs: "Double down on the run."
Reason: "Why!?!"
BK/LSU's OCs: "Well, we were always bad at math...and science...so we try not to use numbers or anything anyone could see with their eyes".

You do realize that, while our running game wasn't working, we didn't abandon the pass. USC made adjustments at the half to limit Lacy, or to force throwing into tighter coverage down field so Nuss kept checking down to safer throws instead of testing the Dbs.

We have not had a solid running game in years. Why is Kelly trying to force that, when the team is not built for it. You design your offense around your play makers.

We never adjusted to USC closing down the underneath windows. I don't have game film so I don't know if Nuss didn't take shots that were there or if we didn't call shot plays but either the the lack of a downfield threat killed the offense in the 2nd half.

Wouldn’t famously aggressive Nuss not taking shots all the sudden… sort of be coaching?
I mean we all know we don’t want to sling the ball carelessly all the time, but this staff should be aware after the development of JD that there is such a thing as too careful. I feel Nuss being overcoached on this is the only explanation. It’s just not characteristic of him.
On some level, great. He’s not going to fire it into traffic for funsies. Now loosen him back up a bit or we’ll be scoring 20pts per game.
Other thing is run game obviously has to get more creative. Players didn’t execute in a few key spots, but both of these are fair coaching critiques.
