Sloan lost the game…….and his temper.

USC knew they couldn’t stop the run without extra help, so they continued to commit the numbers against the run, begging LSU to go downfield.
LSU goes to the right plan most of 1st half, then decides to run against an outnumbered defensive front, and throw mesh, or flat routes.
The consensus that it was play calling is exactly what lost this game. The discipline is another element, but it was indeed Sloan’s doing.
At one point they showed him in the “box” screaming, not a very good sign seeing your playcaller unhinged at critical part of game. Cool heads make better decisions.

WRs were running free all in the second half but we either decided to run up the middle where there were 8 players or throw the check down. Not sure if that is by design on those check down or if Nuss is scared to throw an INT

We should also mention that those who are blaming playcalling also don't know what the plays called even were.

Have you seen the OL run blocking grades? Even Taylor missed or whiffed a couple of times.
The team was not executing. I’d rather see him yelling and upset over reserved and dejected. At least the emotional response shows you the passion.

Running the ball would have given us a better chance after the 1st down with 2 minutes left…. Yet we give them just enough time to march down and score, liked our chances in OT as well

TE was open across the middle all night, and SC didn't know what to do with Lacy. But someone, probably Kelly, pulled the plug. Kelly was pissed they weren't running the ball at halftime. The whole offensive flow changed.

Kelly has to swallow his pride. If it means we have the throw it 50+ times then so be it. Play to win the damn game.

Stubborn fool to continue to run into an 8 man front. Wasted down after down.

Sloan left a lot to be desired. We go one year with a killer offense and shite defense and have the complete opposite the next year

Wait, what?
Do you think Nuss is checking into his own plays?

We don't have a running Qb. Nuss is one dimensional. If they knew this last year why didn't they go into the portal to find a multidimensional Qb. Nuss just can't run this offense the way Daniels could, a defenses can concentrate on shutting down the run.

I agree. He looked frustrated in the 2nd half. Nuss would always look downfield first. He was handcuffed the second half, with heavy run calls, and conservative pass routes.
Doing the precise thing the defense wanted.

Largely inconsequential distinction because either way is coaching.

Don't understand that Emery wasn't used more in 1st half - also at goal line in 4th quarter.

It makes you wonder though.

The time to become a good running team was prior to last night.
You can’t just will yourself into being a running team.
Kelly is right to want to run the ball. Being unable to run it will hurt. But, I don’t know if Sloan has enough understanding if the run came to implement it successfully.

Not a single one of our OL looked good at run blocking. Some had good plays, but none were consistent which is extremely important.
We stopped taking what SC was giving us.

Kellys trademark is the Oline......and wants to showcase them.
They were perfect in pass blocking, and outmanned in the run game....
5 can't block 7!

I wondered if anyone else saw the clip of Sloan screaming. I believe the guy next to him told him to calm down....I wondered what was going on.

Jeez. Where have we heard that before?
Les Kelly at the helm.
