Hearing from a buddy who lives in the Garden District that the city's effort to clean up the underpass is pushing them into the neighborhoods. Parks in the Garden District and Uptown have bums in them. He said he reached out to the city council and NOPD and apparently the bums are not breaking the law.

Incredible that we do not have better ways to handle these type of people.

Someone needs to provide the Mayor's address to the homeless and let them set up tents on her lawn since she has exacerbated the homeless situation in that city. Sad times in Nola. It certainly is a shell of its former self.

Nola had every opportunity to clean up the city and restart after Katrina and failed to do so.

Just load them up on a bus and send them to LA or San Fran

Yeaaaa, these homeless people are a huge problem and are a burden to every major city in America. They really do pose a threat to the health and safety of the general public. Not sure how we can shut down the country for covid masks, but the the guy leaving used meth needles on the ground and wiping his crap all over the streets isnt a concern.

Should offer them a choice between a one-way-ticket to California or a wood shampoo job.

Between homeless and illegals, why would anyone want to have someone with a D behind her name running a city or a country?

You can make a law closing the public parks at dark (time, place, and manner). You cannot make a law closing the public sidewalks.

As long as they will not be seen by the NFL or visitors during Super Bowl, all is good.

People visiting for the Super Bowl will be all over Uptown and the Garden District as well.

the college drive area has about 30 homeless that I now know and recognize. They are the same homeless that have been around for many years.

They are not progressing, not seeking employment, littering, committing crimes, trespassing, squatting and using drugs. We have to do something as a society. Empathy and giving them cash as beggars is not working.

[ loi-ter-ing ]

noun
• the act of lingering aimlessly or as if aimlessly in or about a place:
A cluster of teens gathered in front of the plaza were charged with violating a city bylaw against loitering.

• the act of moving in a slow, idle manner, with purposeless stops:
His celebration of loitering as the best form of travel will resonate with anyone who has ever dared toss away a tourist map.

• the act of wasting time or dawdling over work:
As film director Jean Renoir notes, “The foundation of all civilization is loitering” because it gives time for creative thinking.

Telluride colorado has a law on a big sign when entering town: "no overnight camping on the streets of Telluride" and it is enforced. you will find no homeless there living like they do here. It is doable but no one wants to upset the "empathetic" virtue signalling enablers.
